The U.S. Justice Department and the FBI are looking into 12 police-involved shooting deaths in DeKalb County, according to a letter from Assistant Attorney General Wan J. Kim.
The letter, dated Dec. 12, was sent to John Evans, president of the DeKalb-based human rights group Operation LEAD, in response to a fax sent to the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division. Evans provided a copy of the letter to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
"The Department is currently gathering information, in conjunction with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, concerning the DeKalb County shootings," the letter reads.

At the end of the article it mentions that a police officer was killed during the period of time in question. Some of this district is just dangerous territory.
I believe I would much rather be a Marine in Iraq than a cop in Atlanta.
This area incorporates a small portion of Atlanta that sits in DeKalb County.
But..but..didn't McKinney clean up her district?
There have been the usual marches, protest blather from the local race pimps over the unusually large number of shootings. None of the shooting have been found out of line thus far. Yell loud enough and the Justice Dept is ready to step in like big brother.

I lived in "Kirkwood" for seven years! Just moved back to TN a little over a year ago. I grew to love the ATL, but it is a crazy city...fo real!
Yep. I think there was a game of some sorts going on that day as well. Lots of vagrants around that Lennox Square mall there.
John Evans was/is the NAACP Chairman for DeKalb County.
Enough said.
