Company to Create 164 New Jobs; Retain 12 Existing Jobs

Governor George E. Pataki today announced that Orange County Choppers, manufacturer of custom motorcycles, plans to invest $13.4 million to construct a 92,820 square foot facility at Crossroads Court in the Town of Newburgh in order to accommodate the increasing expansion of the business. The project is expected to create 164 new jobs within three years and retain 12 full time, permanent employees.

“I am pleased that Orange County Choppers has committed to growing their enterprise and building their new world headquarters right here in Newburgh, New York,” Governor Pataki said. “We have made job creation and economic development a priority of this administration and projects like these, are proof positive that our policies and programs are working. By attracting companies to the Empire State, and helping them grow and cultivate, we’ve brought jobs and opportunity to all New Yorkers.”

Established in 1999 by father-and-son team Paul Teutul Sr. and Paul Teutul Jr., Orange County Choppers manufactures custom fabricated high end motorcycles (choppers) for its clientele. The new building will serve as a world headquarters and manufacturing facility. This Orange County manufacturer has garnered worldwide praise and recognition for their custom motorcycle creations. Much of their initial success stemmed from their hit reality cable series “American Chopper,” which began in 2002 on the Discovery Channel. The new building will also serve as the new location for the filming and production of the show.

“We are very much looking forward to relocating our worldwide headquarters to Newburgh,” says Paul Teutul, Sr., founder and CEO of Orange County Choppers. “We hope that by doing so, we will help to fuel the local economy, simply by the enormous number of fans that will be attracted to our new facility.”

Empire State Development Chairman Charles A. Gargano said, “This is great news for the Mid Hudson region, and great news for New York State. Projects like this one are possible because of the business friendly environment Governor Pataki has helped create.”

Eddie Diana, Orange County Executive said, “We are proud and pleased with the success the Orange County Choppers have achieved both locally, nationally and internationally. We wish the Teutul's much success in their future endeavors.”

Bill Trimble, Director, Orange County Office of Business Assistance said, “Orange County is proud to be the home of the Orange County Choppers. This local, home-grown business, now an international company, with its new world headquarters being built in Newburgh, NY, will generate over 100 new jobs and making a major capital investment of several million dollars for the Economic Development of Orange County.”

Maureen Halahan, President and CEO, Orange County Partnership said, “Orange County Choppers has put us on the map nationally. They are the point of interest of every company that has come to Orange County.”

In consideration of its commitment to New York State, Orange County Choppers is eligible to apply to Empire State Development for a Capital Grant of up to $500,000 as reimbursement for the cost of construction and new equipment.

Considering all the jobs NY State has chased out over the last ten years with outrageous taxes and massive regulations (all under republican leadership)...this is not a turnaround...

I can't stand watching people yell and scream at each other on TV.

I can turn the TV off and experience it live.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia A podium (plural podia) is a platform that is used to raise something to a short distance above its surroundings. In architecture a building can rest on a large podium. Podia can also be used to raise people, for instance the conductor of an orchestra stands on a podium as do many public speakers. Additionally, podium has commonly come to mean the object a speaker stands behind, even when it is at floor level, though the proper term for that item is a lectern.

One common type of podium is used to honour medalists in sporting events such as the Olympics. In the Olympics a three level podium is used, the highest level in the centre holds the gold medalist, to their right is a somewhat lower one for the silver medalist. To the left of the gold medalist is an even lower platform for the bronze medalist. Some sports, most notably rowing shun podia, and the symbolism they represent.

Similar podia are used in motorsport, where the first three finishers will usually stand on one at the end of the race to receive trophies. Notable exceptions are the Monaco Grand Prix and the Indianapolis 500 races which have different historic customs. In motor racing, the term is frequently used to refer to a top three placing (as in "he'll get a podium").

I've been watching the program since day one. They are switching channels and will be on TLC this coming year.

“I am pleased that Orange County Choppers has committed to staying in this over taxed hellhole and has promised to let us tax the hell out of their business and employees and be bullied by our Union bosses in foreseeable future"

There that's better.

Well, if one wants to be extremely picky about it, yes, lectern - but the 3rd definition listed under "podium" - http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=podium - is none other than "lectern".

Okay. I really do appreciate your letting me know; however I Googled both terms and podium comes up with varying styles. The lectern seems to be more associated with the open, flat-topped piece standing on a pole. Pictures of podiums also include those three-tiered platforms Olympic medalists stand on.

So I won't sweat it. But thanks again for noticing it.

Hideous? I think that they are cool. The OCC guys are genuinely nice people and are very involved in local charities. I know, they frequent my hubby's friend's gym.

My favorite episode was on the other night. It was the one where Paul Sr. got really mad and yelled at Paulie. Then Mikey put on a funny hat.

Man, what a scream!!!

A bit of OCC trivia, they were the SECOND choice of producers when the show was in development. The first company, unnamed, originally accepted the deal, then backed out a few days later. Then OCC was approached with the deal, and accepted. I bet that first company has been kicking themselves in the butt ever since...........

***What is it correctly called, so I can fix the image?***
A 'dais'? A raised platform, as in a lecture hall, for speakers or honored guests

Podium: A stand for holding the notes of a public speaker;

Lectern: A stand that serves as a support for the notes or books of a speaker.

"Lectern" would be correct IMO (but I'm not picky)
