The Defense Satellite Meteorological Program is supported by the 6th Space Operations Squadron at Schriever Air Force Base, Colo. The 6th SOPS transforms weather from a force of nature into a force warfighters can use to their advantage. The 6th Space Operations Squadron at Schriever Air Force Base, Colo., will shift its mission focus from the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program to the National Polar-Orbiting Environmental Satellite System beginning in 2013.
