This election cycle the media tried to make a self-fulfilling prophecy of evangelicals abandoning the republicans and to a degree, they succeeded.

We can say all we want about the internet and talk-radio, the media, movies, sitcoms, music are still the most powerful politcal voices, it's an echo chamber where you hear the same stuff preached over and over, and if you're not too involved in politics, you just vote democrat, because that's the party of the "cool" people.

I don't think that Mad Howie or Ricky Warren are going to sway many Evangelicals. I don't know of any who are going to vote Demo.

Rick Warren is not a clone of Billy Graham. Most Evangelicals have neither heard him preach nor wish to. He is a pastor who has changed many churches, some for the worse, some for the better, but his moral weight is not high. He does not carry the moral weight of John Hagee, or Ed Young or a dozen others to whom Evangelicals look for instruction in morals and scripture. He is simply popular because of books.

I dislike him intensely as I feel that much of his organizational talent is only suited to his immediate area. His idea that there should be special services for seekers is anathema to me. We lay it out the full platter for those who have been chosen by God to be saved. And they come to our family in droves, by the dozens, by the hundreds, all choosing to raise their flag for Jesus.

As far as Ricky Warren goes, my answer to his endorsement of Obabama is simply this: So what? He is not my goto guy for political or moral guidance. In the latter case Ed Young fills up that slot nicely. Politically, I will not vote for a man who supports abortion, homosexual marriage, euthanasia and homosexuals in the Boy Scouts. Nor will I support a man who is an atheist, a muslim or one who has such little cojones that he will not tell the press which religion he adheres to.
