Katie Couric admits that her new gig as anchor of the CBS Evening News has been "a little harder than I thought it would be."
"Some people out there are rooting for me to fail," Couric, 49, tells Esquire in its January issue. "You have to be unwavering in your convictions that you're doing something good, because there are a lot of circling vultures that will eat you alive."
Couric points out that Esquire itself criticized her after her Sept. 5 debut. "You guys even take a shot at me," she tells the magazine. "You have something in the November issue, something about how since I've become an anchor, you don't know me anymore. You don't know me anymore? Bite me."

Wonder if the irony will dawn on her the next time she criticizes Pres. Bush and his convictions.Never gonna happen. Humorless liberal liars like Katie are without the slightest insight.

Hawks, on the other hand, do go after live prey.
I heard about an occurrence that happened recently in my hometown, where a not-so-nice person died, and at the funeral service at the graveside, a dove was released. A hawk swooped down, grabbed the dove, and pinned it to the ground - squawking, feathers flying, etc. A number of those present who knew the truth about this person were very hard-pressed not to laugh out loud...

Add me to the "rooting to fail" list. Unfortunately in the MSM it will all be chalked up to sexism, not to the fact that she's a smarmy, annoying, left-wing hack. The "not ready for a female anchor" comments have already begun.

Takes a vulture to know a vulture. And, yes, I too am hoping she fails. May her ego deflate loudly and often.

I should note that it is now "Kate Couric" with a stern visage used as the illustration, judging from the commercials played during a Sunday football broadcast. I guess their polling showed using "Katie" lacks gravitas. Damn the NFL for keeping the AFC games on SeeBS.

The "not ready for a female anchor" comments have already begun. The "not ready for a female president" comments have already begun, WRT SHrillary!
I point out to those who suggest such things....no, is not female in general, it's this female in particular

How come 99% of us here on FR KNEW she would fail in her new gig, but CBS couldn't figure that our for themselves? Maybe they ought to check with us before replacing the (not so perky) cheerleader in very near future.

No doubt the taste of shagged out, gristly, clueless cheerleader is, in a word, unappealing.

Katie has a (usually) well concealed temper. I remember an interview she did years ago. The interviewee refused to be driven into the little slaughter pen she had set up for him. As she chased him around this figurative barnyard her anger grew and grew. Toward the end it was obvious the woman was simply seething at this disobedience.
Also, she really should learn how to mix a metaphor.
