No, she is doing her job. I am proud of her and look forward to her start as speaker in January.

Sandra Varner

Sandra Varner, Oakland

It's too soon to tell. Were you to compare her present decisions to her career stance on a myriad of issues, perhaps a tendency could be assessed. However, she's still swirling in the newness of her leadership role and --in my opinion -- still caught up in the fumes of victory.

Michael Bauce

Michael Bauce, Berkeley

Of course she is. That's what she's been told she has to do. What she doesn't realize is that once she alienates her supporters on the left, she's through. When Democrats act like Republicans, they get thrown on the trash heap with the rest.

Alan Jewett

Alan Jewett, Oakland

I think the election results suggest one cannot lean too much toward the center now. We need leaders who can pull us together, not draw us apart.

Cathy Edgett

Cathy Edgett, Mill Valley

Nancy Pelosi knows the art of compromise. I trust her to represent an array of people and balance the wants and needs of her varied constituents. She is finding her feet. When she does, she'll use her wings. Give her time.

Marianne Lonsdale

Marianne Lonsdale, Oakland

Who knows? Give it a rest. She hasn't been speaker long enough for anyone to know. We just can't stand not putting people into categories. . . .

This is a propaganda story to give the PERCEPTION that pelosi is somthing other than a hard core communist.

That is OK, since we know better....I think she had the hammer and sickle removed from her forehead....

Question: Now that the Nance and her genius intellectual demonrat friends have taken over congress and the Senate, will we stop hearing the cheap shot jokes on the MSM about "no intelligent life in DC?"

That would be a step in the right direction!Never trust people who don't/can't blink. She is a perfect example of why politicians can not be trusted.

Is Pelosi leaning too much to the center?

There's a world of difference between Pelosi's present activities and anything remotely resembling "center". She's way, way, WAY out in left field. The woman's crazy.

We can expect the libs to take a stab at appearing more centrist in an attempt to fool as many voters as possible in '08.

Swirling? Fumes? Sounds like Miz Varner subconsciously associates Speaker Pelosi with circling the toilet bowl.

I think her matronly bosom is making her lean forward.

"Only in San Francisco."

It's scary that there is a place in our country that would ask a question like that about her. I won't be able to sleep tonight.

Liberal admission!

"Leaning to the center" means you're standing pretty far away from "the mainstream" right now, doesn't it?
