Carter Nixes Debate With Outspoken Prof

Former President Carter turned down a request to debate Alan Dershowitz about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, saying the outspoken Harvard law professor "knows nothing about the situation."

Carter, author of a new book advocating "peace not apartheid" in the region, said he will not visit Brandeis University to discuss the book because the university requested he debate Dershowitz.

"I don't want to have a conversation even indirectly with Dershowitz," Carter said in Friday's Boston Globe. "There is no need ... to debate somebody who, in my opinion, knows nothing about the situation in Palestine."

Brandeis was founded in 1948 as a nonsectarian university under the sponsorship of the American Jewish community. Carter said he initially was interested in going there.

"I thought it would be a good idea to go to a campus that had a lot of Jewish students and get a lot questions," he said. But then the initial proposal evolved into a plan for a debate.

One of the "tricks" the Klintoons used when they were in the WH was to have wealthy dems "loan" them bronzes and paintings for display / decorating in the WH

Then those were never returned - as there was no paperwork or required reporting of "gifts"

So the IRS was evaded and reporting of income or "gifts" over that low limit were never done

For a couple who claimed to "own" little and "never owned a home" they sure managed to fill up huge moving vans and fill up a monsterous vacant former car dealership of a buddy in Little Rock

Another trick they did was to swap cheap recent copies of the original signed WH Remington bronzes given while TR was President

The Kurdish people in Syria have been subjected to racist Arabist policies since 1962. The Kurdish areas have been Arabised. The Kurdish people in Western Kurdistan have been deprived on there land, language, Identity, civil and human rights and dignity.
Two hundred thousand Kurds are denied nationality and passports and are registered as "aliens". This theoretically deprives them the right to marry, buy property and get employed. The Arabist racist Ideology and regime in Syria does not recognize Kurdish indentity. The word "Kurd" is not mentioned in Syrian media.

Not only are Kurdish history and culture are excluded from school syllabuses, they are repressed and banned.

The use of Kurdish language is not allowed. Few months ago a number of Kurdish artists in the Kurdish city of Qamishly applied to Syrian authorities for setting up a Kurdish music group. They were not given permission. They were harassed and intimidated. A Kurdish family in Qamishly 6 months ago was threatened with six months in jail for naming there newborn baby Azad. They were forced to accept the name that the Arab registration office chose for their baby: Izz-al-din!
In December 2002 about 100 kurds demonstrated in front of Syrian parliament in Damascus.
They only asked for recognition of the Kurds as equal citizens, recognition, identity and culture. But two of the organisers who are known Kurdish writers, have been imprisoned and tortured. Arabist racist ideology is not capable of tolerating difference and diversity.

Gee. And so Carter stifles debate and re-writes history and presents opinions and lies as facts - like any true liberal who can't face the real world.
