The longer President Bush refuses to completely accept the Iraq Study Group's recommendations the more irked NBC's Tim Russert and Meredith Vieira seem to get. On this morning's Today show Vieira and Russert seemed dumbfounded that the President has yet to wave the white flag in Iraq as they ran down the results of the latest NBC News poll. Vieira declared to Russert: "As polls go it is as bad as it gets for the President." and after running a clip of Bush cynically pondered: "It sounds like the same old President Bush to me. How much do you think he has taken from this listening tour?" Russert, pivoting off the negative poll results quipped: "Real pessimism. When the Iraq Study Group came out and said the situation was 'grave and deteriorating,' that resonated with the American people. I think the President's political condition as we sit here this morning is 'grave and deteriorating."

After briefly running down the political implications of Sen. Tim Johnson's condition Vieira and Russert broke down the poll results in the following conversation that occured in the 7am half hour of the December 14, Today show:

Personally, it takes a bit more than a flash of some cleavage to get me interested.

Well I'm one of those 10-20% straight males that doesn't. I'm a yut and she may appeal to the 60+ crowd but I can't give her the "attractive" status although the cleavage does hike the ratings up a bit, not fugly or ugly but also definitely not "hot".

Vctory is elusive when your enemy is unknown and
doesn't wear any identifying garb, will blow himself
up, and there is no one considered an enemy that
can be authorized (by who?) to ask to surrender
and cease hostilities.....who can figure the basics
out with confidence and legitimacy is the key...
and nobody, including the members ofCongress or the
Administration has a definitive answer... JK

The definitive answer is clear, when Iraq can Govern, sustain, defend themselves and be allies in the WOT is victory. At the rate the terrorist are killing we will know that moment has arrived when suicide bombers and car bombs are an exception rather than a norm and the Government talks revenue for all rather than what their cut is.

Good answer but it is not saisfactory..as a constant
battle like Israel has had for past 58 years..and it
stops and then starts again. I guess satisfaction would
be like you say..stopping the killing..up to he
Iraquis...and aftr a period of time..we leave because
we declare it over....but will it be? I don't think
it will ever be over...because of the constant brain-washing since birth that is going on...JK

The part between the Sunnis and Shiites will never be completely over the same way the bloods and the crips will never really be over but they can learn to live in relative peace together.
