Inept Democrats face failure with poor start in Congress

It’s a bad start, and the risk is that the Democrats are going to throw away their big chance.

This week has brought comedy to their efforts, as the new Democrat head of a congressional committee on intelligence proved unable to tell Sunni from Shia, incorrectly maintained that al-Qaeda belonged to the second persuasion, and stumbled into paralysed silence when asked the same question about the Shia group Hezbollah.

The bigger problem is the lack of Democrat strategy exposed by the past five weeks since the congressional elections — and above all, the lack of anything coherent to say on Iraq.

The choice of Silvestre Reyes, the Democrat who will now head the House of Representatives committee on intelligence, is the latest misjudgment by Nancy Pelosi, whose arrival as the first female Speaker of the House of Representatives triggered so much excited anticipation.

Even before Reyes’ display of ignorance, in response to questions from a congressional reporter, Pelosi’s decision to pick him for the key post was controversial. She had passed over the committee’s most senior Democrat.

This follows the breathtaking mistake of Pelosi’s first moves after the party’s November 7 electoral victory, when she tried to insert a longtime ally as her chief deputy, despite questions about his opposition to the reform of ethics rules, and overwhelming House support for his rival.

They couldn't put this information together in the 2 years leading UP to the election, it would be silly to expect they could do so AFTER the election.

If only the 'Truth in Advertising' laws applied to politics... </wishful_thinking>

This is exactly what the American public needs to see: Ineptness of the first order on the part of democrats. And just think: They have 2 years to completely screw up before the 08 elections. By that time, the public won't touch them with a 10 foot pole.

Yeah, it's a quagmire, they should contradict the bad example set by Jimmy Carter's dad and pull out in time.

I suspect that the plan is global disarmament and global socialism to "save the planet" from us.

The only Democrat who's honest in what he believes in is Dennis Kucinich, the others try to keep secret what they think and want.

They think that they can "Rule" and not have to "Lead". A fatal error in any country....eventually.

Great news--total gridlock! Maybe no new laws will be made, there will be no surrender of our sovereignty to a supranational quasi-trade union, no new entitlements will be given as a form of triangulation to gain votes, and best of all, nothing will prevent enforcement of our borders.

So now the media is just starting to catch on to what has been common knowledge for years...the Rats are motivated by hate and , aside from socialism, they have nothing to contribute. When the pillars of a political party are a murderer, a racist, an intellectually challenged gigolo and a carpetbagger what else is to be expected?

Sh!t from shinola is more like it. Telling one brand of Moslem apart from another is not a big deal...I mean who cares? But it's nice to see the London Times ridiculing the Dems before they've even assumed control.
