A private laboratory hired by the prosecution in the Duke lacrosse case failed to report that it found DNA from multiple males in the accuser's body and underwear, according to a defense motion filed today. The lab, DNA Security of Burlington, found that the DNA did not match the three defendants, their lacrosse teammates or anyone else who submitted their DNA to police, including the accuser's boyfriend.
The new evidence emerged in thousands of documents handed over to the defense in October.

"I still have to wonder about the health and welfare of the baby, and the alcohol and drug abuse it was subjected to during the first few weeks of its life.
Good point."
Are you kidding? I think we all know about that baby's "welfare" which, by the way, will unfortunately be provided for by us all.
Who dat babydaddy?
It's going on right now!
Please--it's not the baby's fault.
Thanks as always maggie!!!
One unsubstantiated post said that the accuser and 5 of her family are there. I would love to know that for a fact, but.....
Clearly since about the middle of the day yesterday the hints have been that this would be a big day in court not the usual setting. To me when I first heard all three defendants would be there, I started wondering if something big was in the offing.
No cameras in the courtroom. :(
WHY is CTV at a courthouse awaiting a verdict----interviewing a NBPP member---geeesh---shouldn't they be letting us know what's going on in Durham instead of awaiting a verdict????
dang it...inquiring minds want to know if Liefong is smirking!
There weren't any cameras in the court room at the last setting either. The defense did not argue this point much. On here we discuss that it was a sign Smith did not know what he was getting into.
It will be curious to hear about the smirking Nifong with no cameras again.
Certainly not Coach K or the Men's basketball fans!
I hope that your intuition is correct.
They have been covering that trial with live testimony; they are switching back and forth.

MAGE 5 (David Evans)
Accuser: He looks like one of the guys who assaulted me sorta.
Sergeant: OK. How, um, how sure are you on this image?
Accuser: He looks just like him without the mustache.
Sergeant: OK, so the person had a mustache?
Accuser: Yes.
Sergeant: Umm, percentage wise, what is the likelihood this is one of the gentlemen who assaulted you?
Accuser: About 90 percent.
IMAGE 7 (Reade Seligmann)
Accuser: He looks like one of the guys who assaulted me.
Sergeant: How sure are you of that?
Accuser: A hundred percent.
Sergeant: You're a hundred percent sure. OK.
Accuser: Yes.
Sergeant: How did he assault you? Which one was he?
Accuser: He was the one that was standing in front of me ... um ... that made me perform oral sex on him.
Sergeant: OK. What else did he do?
Accuser: That was it.
(Investigator motions to the sergeant to repeat what the accuser said.)
Sergeant: He was the one that was standing in front of her that made her perform oral sex. One hundred percent sure. That would have been image number 7.
IMAGE 40 (Collin Finnerty)
Accuser: He is the guy who assaulted me.
Sergeant: What did he do?
Accuser: (Describes two sex acts.)
Sergeant: Was he the first one or the second one to do that?
Accuser: The second one.
Sergeant: Is he the one that strangled you or not?
Accuser: No.
Sergeant: So that is the gentleman that (describes sex act); picture 40.
IMAGE 4 (Matthew Wilson)
Sergeant: Did you recognize that person?
Accuser: He looked like Bret but I'm not sure.
Sergeant: Who is Bret?
Accuser: One of the guys that assaulted me.
Sergeant: One of the guys that assaulted you? OK.
Accuser: Um hum.
I think there is little chance they don't get a change of venue. I just wonder if any of this will be ruled on today. But there has to be some reason all parties are in court today rather than just their representatives. [And no I don't include Mangum as she is a witness [lying at that, but a witness] not a party to this case.
OH! Will she be in the hall, breastfeeding her wee one?
