RALEIGH, North Carolina (AP) -- A murder charge was dismissed Tuesday against a sheriff's deputy accused of shooting an unarmed teenager after a grand jury foreman said he had checked the wrong box on the indictment paperwork.

the fix is in

Everyone deserves a slimy lawyer, selective evidence, governement morons, and a bunch of jurors from the randomized cesspool that is "the masses".
That's "justice". Seek your own, and they will put you in jail faster than a real criminal.
They say they can indict a ham sandwich, I see the error.
"He should have made certain his check was done properly, as his stupidity caused a lot of anger and unnecessary angst for all concerned."
Are you actually falling for this "I made a mistake" BS?
I'm not falling for anything here. If tat's what happened, the the foreman is a total whack job. If not, then the "fix" is in, and in this part of the country I'm not certain of anything either. That answer your question?
Reading the article sounds different from the headline. It's not completely clear, but it sounds like the jury decided NOT to pursue charges, but the foreman made ambiguous marks on the form that made the authorities initially announce there *were* charges, only to retract that when the error came out.
Okay, the SHOT was not a mistake. the REASON for the shot was a mistake. I feel so much better now that that's been made clear.
I'm not going to pillory the deputy, at least not all by himself. Clearly the training was inadequate, and that's not his fault. Clearly the decision to deply the "elite" group was, at best, questionable, and that's not his fault. Whatever blame there is can be shared around, not just focussed on this guy.
The evidence free allegation that the Grand Jury changed their minds under pressure from the sheriff is also weakened by the firing of the deputy. The sheriff isn't backing this guy up. My guess is that the Sheriff would prefer to have the deputy take the blame than have the enquiry go where it should, namely into the decision to deploy the dunamic entry team and the training of that team.
"weakened by the firing of the deputy."
How long do you think he'll stay fired?
He MIGHT vcould get a job in some other PD or SO, but I htink he's toast. Sheriff is an elected office and whatever the morality of the situation might be, the sheriff isn't going to let himself be tarred with that brush.
"Wonder how the cops got the Grand jury to change their mind. I've never heard of such a thing."
How, exactly did you arrive at that conclusion when the news report states that the grand jury foreman checked the wrong box?
