A new report raises questions about Rahm Emanuels assertion that he and his staff knew nothing about disgraced Rep. Mark Foleys e-mails to former House pages.
In an October 8 interview with ABC News, the Illinois Democrat said "no never saw them when asked if he knew about the e-mails or instant messages between Foley and former pages before news of the messages broke.
Asked if he was "aware of them, Emanuel repeated, "We never saw them.
But the new House Ethics Committee report on the scandal, released on December 8, discloses that a senior member of Emanuels staff did know about the e-mail and instant messages, according to Holly Baileys column in Newsweek.
The report indicates that the e-mails were given to a top Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee staffer in the fall of 2005, more than a year before Foley resigned.
At that time, Emanuel was chairman of the DCCC.
Matt Miller, who was communications director for the House Democratic Caucus in 2005, has been revealed as the source who leaked the e-mails to the press. He told the ethics committee that he also shared the e-mails with the communications director at the DCCC.
Bill Burton was (and remains) the DCCC communications director and a top aide to Emanuel.
Miller, who got the e-mails through social and political contacts, testified that he thought Burton might pass on the e-mails to a reporter.

Another dem scandal going nowhere. Don't expect this to ever result in any punishment for anyone although it's now perfectly clear the dems knew about Foley for quite a while and did nothing to stop his communication.

It doesn't matter. William Jefferson was re-elected without a word from Pelosi and gang.
The Lamestream media will bury any discrepancy between Emmanuel's words then and any new information that surfaces.

"Never saw them" does not mean the same thing as "I didn't know about them".
"Can you read to me what it says?"

The impotence of republicans is a sorrowful thing to see. They could have hung this right on the dems' necks, but oh no we wouldn't want to be like "them." We'll just turn the Nation over to "them."
I don't care that Rahm Emannuel gets respect now because he is powerful. He is pure Clinton White House scum.

Certainly the Democrats did something. They held the details until the eve of the election to tarnish not only Foley but the whole Republican party.
That they tried to smear the GOP with this when they were guilty of greater offenses should not be permitted to pass unchallenged.
This is a partisan witchhunt and a deliberate media smear.
Coordination. It should've blown up in their faces. Too many exit pollers blamed the GOP on this one "They knew!". Great. You put in a party that knew more, left "children" in harms way (no children were involved, it was a deliberate exageration to scare voters), and the Liberal elites engaged in Zogbyism while we are told even at this late date how bad McCarthyism was for America.

It's Rahm for heaven sakes ... he's a notoious democrat operative, cinton lie machine driver, and sleazy sycophant for the 'c' war room. What do we expect from these lying bastards, honesty? HAH! And the media whores will doubtless ignore this fact now that it has surfaced ... they knew this when they helped plan the media smear for the election cycle.

That's Clinton-speak for, "I orchestrated the whole thing, and made sure that my involvement was 100% verbal, no one was to ever show me any documents, so I could have complete deniabilty when fools ask me softball questions."Exactly. Reminds me of Hillary's "these charges will not be proven true" in her interview on the Today show after the Monica story broke, and before she knew Monica had kept the blue dress.

Emanuel sat on the Foley story until the appropriate time to leak it to the press - right before the election. Democrat strategery.

I remember that... Emanual was getting grilled. I think he was asked 3 or 4 times in a row on that.
"Did you know about them"
"No, never saw them"
"But did you know about them"
"No, I did not, I never saw anything"
"We know you didn't actually physically see them with your eyeballs, but did you know about their existence?"
"Nope, not once, not once did I ever look at these communications (IM's)"
I found it VERY suspicious. (They knew about them and the contents, but intentionally didn't actually lay eyes on the logs or print outs so they can deny 'seeing' it later. Sort of like fake but authentic, only this time its known about but not seen.)
Anyway, others are right that it doesn't matter. Jefferson gets re-elected, Reid's land deals are no biggie, and meanwhile rummy is gone, Bolton is gone, both houses going to the dems, in part because of the "corruption" on our side... right?
Or was it spending or the border we wanted to 'send a message on'?
I can't keep track anymore now that everything is going to hell.

So while Pelosi and friends were snarling about how only the Demagogues care about "protecting the children" THEY are the ones who sat on the real Foley info (the explicit emails which go beyond the mere fact that he is gay) for a YEAR in order to spring it late into the campaign season.
This episode shows both how grotesquely biased the MSM is (they should have been all over the Demagogues with "what did you know and when did you know it") and how limp and impotent the Rs are as they allow the Demagogues and the MSM to walk all over them........

It doesn't matter. It's not the dims fault the Republicans had a pedophile congressman hitting on young boys. It the tables were turned you can bet the Republicans would do the same thing.
The fault of this scandal (besides the pedophile himself) lies in the hands of the Republican leadership. They should have forced this pedophile to resign when his actions surfaced. And don't give me this crap about they did not know how bad it was or they thought it was handled. Our Republican leadership should have the highest ethical and moral standards. They should not tolerate or accept anything less!
