A group of Muslim imams is seeking an out-of-court settlement with US Airways, saying they should not have been removed from a Minnesota-to-Phoenix flight last month and were not behaving suspiciously. Five of the six Islamic religious leaders have retained the Council on American-Islamic Relations for legal representation and are seeking a "mutually agreeable" resolution, said Nihad Awad, CAIR executive director. US Airways scheduled a meeting with the imams on Dec. 4 to discuss the incident, but the men canceled it and hired the activist group to act as legal counsel. "With the hopes of reaching an amicable resolution to this matter, we would like to take this opportunity to ask for a formal meeting with US Airways executives and legal counsel," said Arsalan Iftikhar, CAIR's national legal director, in a letter to the airline. The imams represented by CAIR include Omar Shahin, Didmar Faja, Ahmad Shqeirat, Marwan Sadeddin and Mohamed Ibrahim. Mahmoud Sulaiman of New Mexico is the only imam not included as a plaintiff. Mr. Sulaiman is the passenger who asked another passenger to switch seats with him to accommodate a blind imam and was one of three imams who asked for a seat-belt extension even though the police report cites his weight at 170 pounds.

With all of their real actions public, looks like they don't think they can win this case in court after all.

I think an agreeable settlement would include a small bag of volcanic sand and a hammer.
If the airline is feeling particularly generous they can toss in a round of ham sandwiches.

They staged this entire act for publicity and cash from a lawsuit, if I was US Air I'd tell them to eat $hit.

Did the "blind" imam have a seeing-eye cat (since dogs are considered "unclean")?

This was always a setup for a lawsuit. I hope US Air doesn't cave and settle.
I'd love to be on that jury.

Maybe other passengers could band together and sue them for distress.

They should be in jail.
Only in the USA can someone disrupt a flight and then sue the airline. (Only if you are not a white male)

Eject them from this Country NOW! and charge them with disorderly conduct and Terroristic Threats!!! They are Evil!!

That is what needs to happen. A counter suit for the provocative antics they pulled. Their antics delayed a flight, infringed on others safety, incited a bit of 9/11 PTSD in other passengers. All in all they disturbed the peace, caused a disruption of public service...need I go on.
Will there be a counter-suit? Doubtful, most people don't seem to realize it is their own personal rights and freedoms that are being challenged by these imams...

If I were head of US Airways, I would issue a public statement calling on the Imams to publicly apologize to all the passengers that were terrorized and had there travel disrupted.
I would then publicly state that their new and veiled threats of harassment have now been forwarded to the FBI, and that protecting their passengers from threats of Jihad, veiled or not, will be US Airways number one priority.
