More liberal twaddle. Symbolism over substance.

The firm tells drivers that for $49.99 they can make up for the 12,000 tons of carbon a typical sedan or station wagon produces in a year. Somebody should check their facts.

Of course you could sell you car and walk. And give up flying. There's no accounting for human stupidity.

Well goody for her.
I hear-by ask all those "global warming" huggers to put up or shut up. Join this "TerraPass" and practice what you preach.
Even if it only make you feel good!

To: hophead
That's the point. Paying TerraPass $50 a year is not going to do a damn thing to effect global warming. But it makes those who pay FEEL GOOD. And liberalism, as a religion, is all about feelings. The entire point of being a liberal is do what feels good as opposed to doing what is right.

You're so right. Doesn't any one check things?
A gallon of gas weights 8.66 lbs. Assuming that is all carbon, 12,000 tons equals 2.77 millon gallons. At $2.00 per gallon, driving a SUV is pretty expensive I guess. Glad I own a truck.

But did you know you can pay $50 to get a clean conscience? Just be glad its not John F. Kerry charging you for the privilege of obtaining green absolution.

The firm tells drivers that for $49.99 they can make up for the 12,000 tons of carbon a typical sedan or station wagon produces in a year.12,000 tons = 24,000,000 pounds...that's 24 million pounds! Gasoline weighs 6 lbs/gallon, so that is 4 million gallons of gas...assuming all of it converted to carbon dioxide. At 20 miles per gallon, you'll have to drive 80 million miles a year. The person who wrote this story must have been the valedictorian at a California high school.

Effing idiots.
Maybe they can buy a racism pass, too. That way they can say whatever they want and still be "part of the solution."
Morons.
