Wolf whistles for Palin pulling Alaska politics out of the cold
Anchorage Daily News ^ | December 10, 2006 | Beth Bragg

"Sarah Palin appears to be accomplishing in a couple of weeks -- for free -- a project her predecessor poured $100,000 into before abandoning.
[....]
Hotness aside, it's been a decent opening week for the new governor. Her inauguration ceremony, which defied tradition by being held in Fairbanks instead of Juneau, hit all the right notes, especially its nod to the Constitutional Convention held in Fairbanks 50 years ago.
[.....]
But it's far too soon for a Palin report card. Palin and Alaska are just beginning that pleasant, early part of a political term during which the public is effusive and forgiving. Let the rest of the country drool while we honeymoon with a hottie."

She looks a little more studious, now. Never mind, the important thing is that she appears to be an honest, conservative Republican. It's good to see the back of Lisa Murkowski.

She does appear to bring a really fresh perspective and her recent refusal to tow the line and her willingness to point out wrongdoing in her own party are pluses on my scorecard.
I also liked this line:

".....You'll even find some comments from actual Alaskans, including one thanking the Web site "for (an) Alaska shout-out not including old senile white guys.'' Some of those old white guys -- notably Don Young and Ted Stevens -- brought a significant amount of ridicule our way in the last year or two. Between their bridges to nowhere and outbursts on the Senate floor, Young and Stevens became popular punch lines for Letterman, Leno and Jon Stewart. ..."

As for US Sen Lisa Murkowski....

. .....her current term ends in 2010.

My mistake. I read the background too fast. She beat Frank Murkowski in the August 22 primary.

It's confusing.

Long time US Sen. Frank Murkowski became Alaska Gov in 2002 and appointed his daughter Lisa Murkowski as his replacement.

Sarah Palin (former mayor of Wasilla, AK) defeated Frank Murkowski in the primary, handily won the general election and occupied the Governor's office this week.

Alaska still has a Republican state congress, governor, and US delegation.

The defenestration of the Murkowski clan shows the effectiveness of conservatives using the primaries to put people in they favour.

Exactly. She just looks like a porn star in costume-- where she would remove her glasses and remove the pins and combs keeping her hair up and shake her head slightly to cause it to fall down her shoulders. There's nothing she can do to her appearance to make people forget she's hot.

LOL

Don't forget her nickname is "Shark" - she worked hard, handed Frank his ass is several pieces, and is hard at work talking with the oil/gas folks.

The clean up effort is now starting with a (former) representative now in jail with, we are told, many more to follow. Alaska does have, with all due respect to NJ and NY, one of the most corrupt set of politicians in State Govt.

I think that this is a huge opportunity for conservativism in Alaksa. She can put together a popular record and provide the public with an alternative to anti-developement wacko 'Rats and pork-barreling RINO's.

And she takes a good picture, too!

Since Senator Stevens will run again in 2008, Sarah Palin can serve two full terms as Governor and run for the Senate seat Stevens will leave open when he finally retires in 2014. I hope Stevens makes it through the six years, or else Palin will have to name Stevens's replacement and perhaps muck things up a bit (unless she names an elder statesman to serve as a placeholder).

As for Lisa Murkowski's Senate seat, which comes up in 2010, I hope she gets a primary challenge from the right, but that it isn't from Governor Palin.
