That's nice and all...for stable countries such as the USA.Stable? Allende was elected. Allende's predecessor was elected. His predecessor was elected... Chile had a functioning Democratic system, and given Allende's unpopularity, that should have been used to remove him.

The Congress and the Supreme Court asked for his removal. He had to be forced out. Thank God that Pinochet stepped in and did what was necessary.

Chile had a functioning Democratic system, and given Allende's unpopularity, that should have been used to remove him. Allende totally subverted the Chilean constitution and was turning the place into a dictatorship. Both the Chilean Congress and Supreme Court asked the military to intervene. Please don't tell me that you think once someone is elected they can then do whatever they want since they were elected. There would not have been another election in Chile, Allende was turning the place into a marxist dictatorship.

What would have happened if Allende had stayed in power, as occurred wherever raving communists come to power, would have been the mass liquidation of the middle class.
