The number attributed to him is usually 3,000. 3,000 over 20 years.....3,000 is a slow week in a Marxist state.

So are you suggesting that that clown Allende murdered 3,000 people per week?

There's strong evidence that Allende worked for the KGB, the Soviet Union's spy agency.

According to The World Was Going Our Way—The KGB and the Battle For the Third World by Christopher Andrew and Vasili Mitrokhin (Basic Books, 2005), a book based on documents purloined from Soviet intelligence archives purloined by Mitrokhin, a KGB archivist, Allende had been in contact with the KGB since 1953. By 1961, he was given a code name, LEADER, and agreed to cooperate with them on a regular basis--which he did until he shot himself to death with a gun given him by Fidel Castro.

As somebody pointed out, Hitler was against communists too. Do you support Hitler, Toddsterpatriot? See how ridiculous this gets?

I see, Pinochet equals Hitler. Now who's being ridiculous?

Pinochet destroyed democracy in Chile

Chile doesn't have democracy?

He was a monster who didn't care a fig about his citizens' rights

Is that why he voluntarily relinquished power? On your monster scale, how does he compare to Castro?

This thread proves that Free Republic is teeming with left wingers posing as conservatives.

What Pinochet tried to do with the Marxists in Chile is what needs to be done with all of the Islamic radicals all over the world. Exterminate them.

I'm saying that Pinochet made sure that he wouldn't. Seeing the examples of Lenin, Stalin, Kun, Liebknecht, Luxembourg, Kadar, Gomulka, Mao, etc., it was a safe bet to say that Allende, who was sponsored by the KGB and the Stasi would have been no different.

Pinochet came to power in a coup d'état on September 11, 1973 after the Chamber of Deputies in its Resolution of August 22, 1973 declared that Allende had violated the Constitution.

Allende violated the Constitution, but Pinochet canceled it, wrote himself his own, and installed himself as leader of a violent military junta. Now please explain to me why the latter act is less of a problem, Constitutionally, than the former.

I'm sure Che's mom cried when her evil spawn got what he deserved. So what's your point? Even evil Commies have mothers who love them?

They should sell Pinochet T-shirts now like they do with Che.

I love to yell, "Viva Pinochet!" at Che t-shirt wearers at anti-war rallies.

That's a lot of trails you're going to be holding to "exterminate" all the radicals. Oh- wait, you weren't going to bother with silly laws and trials and rights, were you?

Does one condmen Pinochet for killing a few thousand when if he did nothing millions of across South America would have died?

Yes. Killing thousands is evil. It doesn't matter whether or not you think killing millions is more evil. Evil remains evil.

I'm saying that Pinochet made sure that he wouldn't.

Ok, in his three years of elective office, exactly how many people did Allende kill? To be totally honest, I don't think Allende was about to take Chile into the Soviet Union's orbit, but I'm interested in your analysis of the "threat."

How many of the 3,000 dead, or 30,000 tortured, or the million forced into exile by Pinochet were communists, and how many of them were innocent victims? Since those accused, tortured, murdered or exiled were never given the right of a trial, we shall never know.

Pinochet abolished democracy in Chile for nearly two decades, made it illegal for the president to sack the leader of the armed forces, salted millions of dollars away in secret foreign bank accounts, assigned senate seats to military offices, and eliminated most of the freedoms we take for granted in the USA.

One initial act cannot excuse the rest of his iron-fisted rule.

Because Pinochet's coup led to freedom and prosperity and the elimination of every Commie he could find. Not enough unfortunately.

Allende's version of governance would have led to Che Guevara on every wall.

Got it?

Thus your argument does not hold water and is fellatious.

Thus the intellectual merit of your post is neatly summarized.
