Barb Boxer Claims Greenhouse Gases Kill 2000 Californians
U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer - http://www.eande.tv/transcripts/?date=120706z
Preface: Boxer apparently did not pass 6th grade science class. Remember what photosynthesis is? C02 is harmless and does not cause asthma and is needed for plants and crops to grow.
Transcript Excerpt: "Of course. You know, I've been in this world of politics, as I said, since the 70s and every time we've put forward a piece of environmental legislation that has been the outcry. I remember when I was in the air pollution district and the Bay Area of California said, oh my God, you're cracking down on tailpipe emissions. That's the end of everything. That's the end of the world. And it's never happened. What has happened instead is that we have proven, as the economy has grown, that these green technologies are exportable technologies. They have created many jobs. We're very successful because of them and our people are healthier. So I would just have to say, truly, if you look at the remedies for global warming, and there's a whole analysis that's been done and there's 15 wedges to put together, how you get to the kind of cuts in emissions that we have to get to. Honestly, every one of those is going to be beneficial because at the end of the day, when you fight global warming, you're going to get us off of foreign oil, which is very important for our foreign policy, for peace in the world. This is a very important piece. You're going to have cleaner air. People won't be coughing as much and getting sick and dying. In the Central Valley alone they said something like 2000 deaths in the Central Valley of California. And nationwide it must be over 20,000. Boxer's Legal Councel Bettina Poirier: 9000 in California. Counsel Michael Goo: More than 40,000 nationwide."
Post Script: Fighting global warming mostly means reducing or eliminating "Big Coal" energy plant emissions, which are entirely produced domestically. Solar and wind power can only replace a small fraction of coal-fired energy. The other likely source to replace coal-fired energy is natural gas. But California must import natural gas from either places like Texas, through Enron's former gas pipeline, or from overseas (Liquid Natural Gas - LNG). So eliminating coal-fired power is going to make California more dependent on foreign energy sources, not less as Boxer asserts. Quite remarkable statements from someone now heading the environmental committees of the U.S. Senate. Start the bumper stickers now: "Our troop have to die because Boxer lied." We do know that Boxer passes a lot of .....gas.
No...next question...
Was that her lighting the matches on that AA flight last week?
Why do they always ignore nuclear power?
More CO2 = more plants = more oxygen.
(no offense meant to nitwits)
Judging from her actions and the wacky things she says, I don't think she passed the sixth grade, PERIOD. She is not a very intelligent human being.
Making her the consummate democrat, full of words and feelings, void of facts and truth.
Funny isn't it. They are cafeteria socialists. I got so sick of "why can't we be like France" from 'Rats I knew that cut all connection with them, and yet, France has a bunch of nice clean nukes. Go figure. Liberalism is a mental dissorder. How many still search the beach looking for Alladin's lamp, believing they can wish it all away.
Because it shows their true agenda. Nuclear power is cheap, environmentally responsible, doable, cuts off funding to the Middle East, and is otherwise good. But that's not what the environmentalists want. They want us back in the stone age, no electricity, no industry, no technology. (Doubt it? Hydro dams rivers, destroying beautiful valleys. Solar uses toxic chemicals in batteries. Big Oil/gas/coal contribuets to global warming. Wind chops up migratory songbirds, and the towers are ugly. And they say nuclear will destroy the earth, despite having some good evidence that it won't, e.g. TMI being a huge disaster, yet not even killing one person.)
1. At present, with existing technology, the only way to make a serious dent in the use of fossil fuels is to build nuclear (or is it nucular, jimmah?) power plants. I'm *so sure* that's going to happen.
2. The one "tipping point" that I believe we really have reached is in Islamic terrorism and their imperialist ambitions. At one time, slowing down our use of fossil fuels would have hampered their forward (or is it backward?) progress immensely. Now, I think they have enough other ways to make money that they are self-sustaining.
3. Boxer is a numbskull.
Cuts in what? Who says we have to cut? Water vapor is never brought up as a greenhouse gas. How are we going to cut that one?
And Arizona: Navajo Generating Station, Coal fired, in Page, Arizona; Palo Verde Nuclear Station, west of Phoenix; and every dam on the Colorado has one purpose in life: send power to Los Angeles.
California politicians export their problems to the states next door and then bray about alternative power which is nothing but a show.
And did we mention the hypocrisy of the single biggest oil consuming state in the United States refusing to allow drilling off it's Oh So Pristine shores?
The rest of the country should just tell CA to F-off and fix their own damn problems.
That's the California way. Have "cleaner" cars by making them electric, or "zero emission" vehicles. They never actually admit the electricity to charge the batteries will most likely come from a coal or oil burning power plant somewhere in another state. The pollution created to build the special car and batteries and the disposal isn't counted in these "zero emission" vehicles either.
None taken. LOL!!!
[In the Central Valley alone they said something like 2000 deaths in the Central Valley of California. And nationwide it must be over 20,000. Boxer's Legal Councel Bettina Poirier: 9000 in California. Counsel Michael Goo: More than 40,000 nationwide."]
No barbie- it 'must' NOT be like 20,000 and i'll tell you why- when those 2,000 blow-hard liberal californians die from quote un-quote 'greenhouse gasses', then, there is less 'greenhouse gasses being exhaled into the atmosphere and that means that previously sick people who were once sick from 'greenhouse gasses' all of a sudden start getting better because those liberal blowhards who kicked the perverbial global warming bucket have significantly reduced 'green-house' gasses- (yes, I know this isn't scientifically sound, but it's no less scientifically unsound than what Barbie drones on about) http://sacredscoop.com
If anyone has ever been downwind from a coal-fired, or even a wood-fired, house furnace, they are aware that there a lot more constituents in that plume of smoke than just carbon dioxide and water vapor. These other constituents are particulates, sulfur compounds, distillate products that are highly volatile and escape up the chimney before combustion, and other lesser compounds resulting form sometimes incomplete combustion.
These other factors are what contribute to the smog and pollution problems. Since home heating no longer relies on either coal or wood fuel, that one major source of pollution has virtually disappeared, but the more scientifically challenged among us still point to carbon dioxide and water vapor as "pollutants".
Industrial use of coal and organic wastes as heat sources is coupled with treatment of the effluent gases to neutralize or reclaim the pollutants in the exhaust stream, and the technological progress in cleaning up the discharge from burning of carbon-based fuels borders on the near-miraculous. In fact, air pollution problems were well on the way to being eliminated when the legal restrictions on smokestack emmissions were put in place, and the regulations themselves probably hindered, or greatly slowed, real progress in further reductions of pollutant generation, by requiring scientifically unproven, or inefficient, methods of containing the pollution.
This would not be so serious, except the same people who insisted on applying the ineffective or inefficient methods of pollution "control" are also teaching the next generation of "skulls full of mush" that same misinformation they themselves invest with their full faith and support. And it is wrong.
Because they have never troubled themselves to determine objectively whether the course they had advocated so vigorously earlier in their lives, was in fact good or bad. It has become an article of religious faith, beyond questioning, that their way is the only right way, and deviants will be punished.
There is already too much of that kind of dogmatic thinking in this world.
