Re your Post #160. Good analysis.
I agree with most of it. Our move into Iraq was a brilliant strategic move. We have made plenty of mistakes there, but name me one war in which we have not made plenty of mistakes?
But we will win only, repeat - only - if we persist in Iraq and not dump the entire project and avoid confronting all our enemies on all levels - whether nation-states like Iran and Syria, or supranational Islamic networks.
The ISG Report is just one more in a long series of efforts by those of influence to have us abandon the project to the luring siren call of a pre-9/11 world.
Unfortunately for us, there are huge pluralities of somnolent voters, media mavens, bureaucrats, and politicians who have been gulled into seeing this War otherwise, thanks largely to a traitorous political party seeking it's own power above all else and the prevailing sniveling MSM. If they succeed in evaporating support for this brilliant struggle in Iraq today (and they are well along on that track), we will be facing an even more deadly struggle on less favorable ground tomorrow.
Winning in Iraq is not an option. It is an essential. It is our great misfortune so many in influence who claim to be on our side see it otherwise and act on their jaded views. We may as well count them in the camp with the enemy because they stand with them whether they claim the territory or not.
I am with you about what Jane Harman said:
I should be a headline/thread of it's own.
That was an amazing thing she said about Gates and President Bush!!!
Is this a "talking point"...or is it only her opinion??
If it is a talking point, things are going to get much nastier in Washington.

It seems that Sen. Kyl (God bless him), and James Woolsey are NOT going to take this ISG report sitting down.
Posing for Vogue also shrieks of self-importance and loving the limelight, doesn't it? If they had quietly gone about using the $1.3 million to actually get info on which to base their recommendations...and then submitted it to the President w/out publication, they just might have some basis for statesmanship. As it is, they're nothing but heat-sensing missiles looking for the target...President Bush.
We are bigger than he is. We should be constantly pushing the line in his direction. But I guess that might be "destabilizing."
Does anyone here really believe that Foley went from good guy to bad guy over night without the help of the msm, they had to play it very close to the vest as well since he was gay,a huge party of their constituency.
But in coordination with the DBM it was timely enough to get the job done for the rats.
It took six years to win back seats with coordinated, constant lying about us in the msm/dbm. But the rats are just like the terrorists, they are vigilant and have nothing to lose in waiting.
A stacked deck of "Honorables" there at the Baker firm. I'm running out of "Good Lords".
Now don't we all feel stupid?
They could care less what actually happens in the country one way or the other. Only the expedient politics of the situation at hand and how it effects them.
Power politics at its worst moments.
Sorry, sleuth, but I faded before JER came on and didn't wake up in the wee hours as I usually do to listen to the repeat. On Saturday nights I usually go to sleep with Fox on and sometimes I'll wake up as the show is going on. Sometimes it seems like I pick up the sense of what they're saying as I sleep, too. I forget what was on when I turned out the lights last night, probably Greta or Kasich, but whatever it was it was really annoying, so I flipped to Food Network for my background noise.
JER post's their transcripts, usually by late Sunday or early Monday. They post the comments and who made them, by name, so that should let you track down your answer.
Woodward: One thing that bothers me the most about "this" is that no one is thinking of the troops. They are moved around like chess pieces, but NO ONE cares about what happens to them.
Gates is going to be taking over soon as Sec. of Defense, and he is going to walk into the Pentagon and say "what the hell has been going on here...and will find a way to pull the troops".
Bah...I think we have the answer...GATES IS KING..is the new talking point, and Pres. Bush is irrelevant now.
Tony said that the president says he likes reporters... Tony didn't say if he belived it! lol
FNC ALERT .. Pinochet is dead
Okay, thanks...I will work on trying to remember...and let you know.
All I know is...I was quite surprised to hear that "plan" from him...and so was Paul Gigot.
Expedience at its finest hours, those programs worked at the time to keep her party in what power it had at the time and that's all that really mattered. The fact that social welfare is a dismal failure is not even considered in the political framework of the dems. They would do it again.
They will do anything to keep a united constituency(of anyone, any group, that matters little either) together every two years at election time, nothing else matters.
Oh...so THAT will be the "selling point" for Obama...LOL
