Go to a NRA highpower rifle "over the course" competition and watch what professionals can do with a real rifle. Pay close attention to the 300 yard rapid fire prone and 600 yard slow fire prone. You might just have an attitude adjustment.

Most of those weapons are modified quite a bit, and so is the ammo. They are great for target shooting, but in the real world as a close-in battle rifle they come up short against the AK which was designed for that specific purpose.

Each design has it's merits, but just because a weapon has an "eastern bloc" design heritage is no reason to discount it completely. It is the height of arrogance and ignorance.
