Besides that you can buy 1000 rds of AK ammo for less than $179 shipped, .308 (7.62x51) runs 3 times that price (unless you handload).
Absolutely true but I think pretty much any weapon that fires 7.62 x 51 is more fun to shoot!
BTW know any good sources foe 30-06? I'm not sure about CMP as the ammo is mostly foreign and CMP says magnets will stick to it.
