To Democrats, It’s Still “The President’s Stupid,” Stupid
ChronWatch ^ | December 09, 2006 | Seth Swirsky

The Democrats must be feeling pretty good about things right now. They have waged a one-note campaign about the stupidity of George W. Bush since he won the 2000 election and their victory in the 2006 midterms finally, to them, validated their most passionate “position.” To the victors go the spoils so let’s see what the Democrats have reaped: Donald Rumsfeld is gone and Robert Gates has replaced him. This will result in not an iota of change in policy, as the secretary of defense is there to carry out the president’s vision, and the president is in no mood--thank God--to surrender, as the Democrats wish he would. (Actually, they would first like him to get down on his knees, apologize to the world for “Iraq,” and then surrender). The Baker-Hamilton commission has issued its report and, wouldn’t you know, except for sneakily trying to sell out Israel--how dare they not invite Israel to their proposed regional conference!--their 79 “recommendations” basically add up to the president’s position of wanting our troops out without showing our enemies a timetable. But, to Democrats, the sheer number of Baker’s “recommendations” highlights Bush’s intellectual impoverishment--the president could never have thought of all those things! Classic ''left-think,'' where quantity trumps quality. Yes, the Dems, with their serious faces on, nodded their heads when Mr. Gates irresponsibly (and wrongly) said we were “losing” in Iraq. But you knew they derived deep pleasure from Gates’s seeming validation of their only true belief: that they were all smarter than the president. What the cultured John Kerry couldn’t do--expose Bush for the idiot the Left is convinced he is--Robert Gates and James Baker would finally do through their invalidation of Bush’s Middle East policies. Unfortunately, the very talented and effective John Bolton was also on the Democrats’ hit list. The change he was effectuating at the United Nations was palpable but unfortunately he had two things going against him: Democrats gave more consideration to his anger at a subordinate 25 years ago than they did to his extraordinary success in almost single-handedly bringing North Korea and Hezbollah to heel in the past six months--and, that he was an appointee of the man Al ''We know that [Saddam] has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country'' Gore says made the ''worst strategic mistake in the history of the United States.'' To Democrats it’s still, “The president’s stupid,” stupid. Bush, however, is anything but stupid. In fact, through the maelstrom of study groups and negative election results and losses of key members of his staff, our 43rd president has his eyes squarely on the single most important issue of our time--preventing, at all costs, Iran from getting nukes, which he made clear at his joint press conference with Tony Blair today: “(Iran) could use (a nuclear weapon) to blackmail Great Britain or America, or anybody else that doesn't kowtow to them [and] historians will look back and say, how come Bush and Blair couldn't see the threat? That's what they'll be asking. And I want to tell you, I see the threat and I believe it is up to our governments to help lead the forces of moderation to prevail. It's in our interests.” So while Democrats are more than happy to destroy their own president’s credibility in the eyes of the world at this perilous time in world history, we can take comfort that through the tidal waves of condemnation, President Bush--bloodied but admirably unbowed--still sees and says what is important. Democrats will continue to try to make the president look bad while, at the same time, attempting to convince us that global warming--not global war--is the real “threat” we face. Talk about stupid!

talk about stupid, not one mention of the border, while both sides are quibbling over borders overseas, ours is left wide open to gang insurgents 24/7.

with the 400 billion Bush has flushed down
the Iraq toilet, that would be the capital
to build 10 million barrels a day of synthetic fuel
capacity. That would have changed the world.
Instead, we got nothing.

Eyeball-saving version:

The Democrats must be feeling pretty good about things right now. They have waged a one-note campaign about the stupidity of George W. Bush since he won the 2000 election and their victory in the 2006 midterms finally, to them, validated their most passionate “position.” To the victors go the spoils so let’s see what the Democrats have reaped:

Yes. And after that we will really get serious like we did with North Korea last month.

What part of the president's constitutional authority or responsibility does that come under?

Seth Swirsky is accurate when he writes:

President Bush--bloodied but admirably unbowed--still sees and says what is important.

This is why, along with the constant stream of undeserved ridicule and condemnation from the left that helps motivate me to continue to support President Bush, I remain an admirer of George W. Bush, the man.

Does that mean I automatically agree with everything he does as president? Of course not.

The ill-advised Medicare prescription-drug fiasco, the bloated federal budget, the chaos on the border and Bush's refusal to take that issue as seriously as he should are just some of the issues that, politically, separate me from President Bush.

However, the tax cuts and subsequent booming economy (job creation, low unemployment, etc) along with Bush's firm stand against - let's just call it what it is - Islamic terrorism, while Democrats bitterly castigate him daily and dream of his impeachment - for taking the fight to the enemy - simply harden my support for this decent, if not perfect, man, trying his best (and succeeding, so far) to protect his nation from an almost-invisible enemy hiding in the shadows, while leftist Democrats continue to sneer at him and find new ways to insult and impugn him on a daily basis, practically daring anyone to question their patriotism, of course.

Oh yes, these same folks will readily tell you how they 'support the troops'- but not their mission. They may fool some Americans, but certainly not all. These neo-Marxists would love to see this nation collapse and figuratively fall to its knees. I believe the fact that President George W. Bush won't allow that to happen is driving much of their hatred toward him.

Of course, the leftists think they are all so much smarter than Bush, but they also think they're way smarter than you, me or anyone else - with the possible exception of Noam Chomsky, Hugo Chevez's favorite political philosopher.

I know that, unfortunately, following the reality of the Democrats now holding a majority in congress, the next two years will be tough for the president and his administration. However, unless he does a 180 degree turn on fighting terrorism, I will continue to support him. He's earned it - the hard way.

Let's see...

The democrats said Ford, Reagan, Bush the Elder and the current Bush were/are stupid. Then they put up Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton as the most brilliant examples of their ranks.

Nuff said...

When great nations fall, they rarely fall figuratively. Deep down, the leftists in this country must know this.

I agree completely with your assessment of the president. He was not born with the vision, the clarity or the style of a Reagan. However, he is honorable and has done far better than most others would have.

30% of all R&D in this nation is sponsored by the US Military. The Military is currently the leading researcher into nanotechnology.

Much of our technology of today was originally developed for the military in the Vietnam era. Lasers, Computers, etc.

Your life might be saved one day based on military medical advances being developed for Iraq which you claim is 400 billion flushed down the drain.

On the other hand Jimmy Carter's synthetic fuel program was a waste of time and money.
