This article should be read in conjunction with Star Parker's article "Mary Cheney's New World" on the need for a Federal Marriage Amendment. The creators of our Constitution did not even question whether marriage was between a man and a woman. http://www.townhall.com/columnists/column.aspx?UrlTitle=mary_cheneys_new_world&ns=StarParker&dt=05/22/2006&page=2

It is unnatural for children to grow up with gay parents. Yes homosexuals have certain rights, but what about the childrens' rights to grow in a healthy environment? As a young person myself, I am very thankful that I was not raised by two gay men.

There are married Americans who are so desperate to adopt children that they will adopt foreign orphans. If an American child is an orphan, there is no pressing need for them to be adopted by two gays.

In 2000 Richard Hatch, the homosexual winner of survivor lost custody of his adopted son after charges of physical abuse surfaced. He was acquitted of criminal charges, but the child was still removed.

Remember, when you allow gay parents to have children, the children are completely under their care. I do not feel comfortable with gay men "spanking" and punishing children. Do you?

Even if most gay parents did not abuse their children, 47% of molestation cases come from within the family: fathers, stepfathers, and uncles. Allowing gay marriage endangers many more children.

Ms Crouse is correct: Mary Cheney's pregnancy strongly affects our society. It shows a strong trend in our country that few would have imagined just 15 years ago. The fact that America's conservative Vice President could have a homosexual daughter and the President congratulates them on her pregnancy- and on top of it they head the conservative party- shows where we will soon be if you and I don't take a strong stand against gay marriage.

What a dumb title! Mary Cheney's pregnancy does NOT affect us all. It is indicative of a larger societal movement which may someday affect us all but eroding the moral fiber of the nation, but that's a different issue. This affects us all no more than any other lesbian/turkey baster pregnancy affects us all.

The folks obsessing over this pregnancy, both here (like you) and those in the media like Janice Crouse, won't feel better unless Dick Cheney holds a press conferance calling his daughter an abomination and his grandchild a bastard.

Give it a rest and quit carrying on like John Kerry about lesbians.

This could be their business, but this is not something to be pleased or to be admired.

Cheneys are in a difficult spot, its not that they can control the sexuality of their daughter.

It maybe is their private business , but it is not something the society should be proud off.

Mary Cheney's Pregnancy Affects Us All

Why? Am I going to have to buy a baby shower gift? Babysit the child one night in the future? Go to PTA meetings as a proxy for the parent? How exactly is this going to affect me?

Mary Cheney’s action sets an example that is detrimental for mothers with less financial resources who will start down an irrevocable path into poverty that tends to be generational.

THAT started about 35 years ago with LBJ's war on poverty.

It was only within the past 2 weeks or so that a thread was posted about a new study concerning the increased rate of homosexuality among those raised in single parent homes.
The study showed the more exposure a child has to the traditional nuclear family setup the less the probability he/she will become a homosexual.

Lesbians and single feminists make up 2/3rds and 1/5th of the inseminations performed at some public clinics. I think this does affect you.

1) **economic competitive, future leaders, traditional/secular culture**

strong family development gets pushed into a vice of abortion, on one hand, and disadvantaged development on the other. normal family development sinks and disadvantaged development rises.

watch the special that mtv aired on same sex couples raising children. the children lack the same memetic development of mom and dad families. one young man states he wishes that he had a dad because he feels like he missed things growing-up. no doubt.

i think that, even in light of the fact that china, india, et al will grow strong alliances with the US, we need well-developed generations of adults, and we need to sustain a traditional culture.

2) *wait lists*

same sex couples want the same priority as normal couples. is that fair? is that good?

Mary Cheney's reply is as weak as the replies on this forum: it just takes love, listen to my emotional anecdote.

Ms. Cheney has completed a vicious cycle of bad choices, and she's set a bad example.

This is a phycological experiment on children (raising them in and around the gay lifestyle) the results of which are yet to be seen for decades. It is appalling that anyone, gay or straight, would purposely bring a child into the world without a father and mother present for them. Mary Cheney had that herself but will deprive a child of a father.

My guess is that Mary Cheney and her partner will make much better parents than Britney Spears and her soon to be ex husband. It's not just about having a man and a woman around to call mom and dad, but it's also about the quality of the parent the kids get. And I speak as someone who, for many years, was raised by her grandmother.

I think this shows that even if you have a world of wisdom and an immense ability to influence people, that in the face of the sickness of homosexuality, there is little you can do. I am sure that it has been a huge frustration on Dick Cheney's part to have a daughter who is so blind to the truth that she will not even listen to her own father. I see Homosexuality like the eating disorder bulimia. Once a person is under its curse, not even the Vice President of the United States has much power over it.

The Roman Empire had a real problem with bulimia. People think of Roman orgies and vomitoriums. Even though there were no actual vomitoriums for the deposit of pre-eaten chowder, Roman over eating and purging was a common practice and an indicator of a society on the downward decadent fall. Homosexuality is as sickening a disorder as bulimia and whenever I think of it, I feel like I want to hurl. This tells me that Dick Cheney is a very strong man to be able to overcome the nausea and still love his daughter.

No, wrong, it doesn't affect me in the least. And you know, I'm freakin tired of anytime somebody out there makes some kinda choice, be it Carter or the Dixie Chicks or Gengis Khan it all the sudden being thrust on me.

I can't change them one dam bit, and wouldn't if I could, it's called free will.

And they can't change me.

So there!!!
