STUDLY STAMOS IS A WEDDING PLANNER AT 'WAR' By JOEL KELLER
John Stamos has a point to make about gay marriage.
December 7, 2006 --
ASIDE from some feel-good monologues delivered to the kids as Uncle Jesse on "Full House," John Stamos has never been one of those actors who did "message roles."
But as he's gotten older, things have changed a bit.
"Growing up in Orange County, my upbringing was like, 'Don't talk about politics, don't talk about religion, go in the middle, you don't piss off people,' " he says. But these days, "I have beliefs, I have a point of view, and I'd like to follow through with some of it."
Following through is one of the reasons he's starring in "Wedding Wars," which airs on A&E Monday night.
In the comedy, the "ER" star plays Shel, a gay party planner who is hired by his brother Ben (Eric Dane of "Grey's Anatomy") and Ben's fiancé, Maggie (Bonnie Somerville), to plan their wedding.
When Shel finds out that his brother was the man behind an anti-gay marriage speech by his boss and future father-in-law, the governor of Maine (James Brolin), Shel goes on strike, sparking a national movement.
He took the role because he felt this was a good way to say his piece on the controversial issue of gay marriage, an issue that Stamos supports.
"I believe that nobody should be denied equal rights because of who they love," he says.
Still. Stamos decided his views would go down easier if presented in a "frothy," lighthearted story.
"Personally, I think it might be easier for the viewers who may not watch a movie like this to watch it with me in the lead," he says.
Indeed, "Wedding Wars" does play out like a typical romantic

On A&E they are running an ad where the A&E logo gets all rainbowed up and it asks the question "What if Gays went on strike?" I think to myself, "What does that mean? Does it mean that gays will stop obsessing about who they are sleeping with? Does it mean gays will stop filing lawsuits? Will gays stop trying to corrupt our children in our schools..." Then I think to myself "The world would be a much better place..."
Another curious thing about this stupid premise is this: Gays want to stop being discriminated against, but in this film all of the hair dressers and wedding planners and the like go on strike. No stereotypes here folks... -sarc

"I believe that nobody should be denied equal rights because of who they love," he says. And anyone who thinks differently should have their rights taken away.

"What if Gays went on strike?"
Business in Washington would grind to a halt. (And I'm not saying that is a bad thing.)
The congressional offices of both parties are gayer than a San Francisco street festival. That skit on SNL with Nancy Pelosi's aide dressed up in S&M gear isn't just a sight gag - it's an inside joke.

Then I think to myself "The world would be a much better place..." Remember the "immigrant" strikes a few months back? I never had such an easy time getting to work! Absolutely NO traffic! Now, if they want to hold another strike, I'm all for it!

Maybe they will also boycott the bath houses and stop spreading feces, blood, venereal diseases and other disgusting perverted practices including felching, fisting, rimming and gerbiling (animal abuse at its worst). But hey, they are just as normal as the beastophiles, the genitally mutilated, and the followers of incest.

With the tsunamis of shows and report of child molesters around every corner of America, reporting or showing only those who would fit the bill of typical Christian/conservatives, gays will have a tough road ahead to return to their holy, sanctified, privileges status in America's eyes.

Hollywood is just being political because their heads are so big they think they rule the world. And they are treated like gods by many, so they take advantage of that. Truth is, in the political realm, although the majority clearly knows right from wrong and truth from insanity, they haven't got the reasoning skills or the logical premises to win this. We've lost and it is just a matter or time. But it will be just like that doofy situation in New York where they decided a person should be able to change their birth certificate from male to female and back again at will. Oops! How quickly they realize the stupidity of it.
God help our next generation of children. They are going to be raised by idiots.

WAS his wife. They are divorced. They were together for 10 years and did not have any children. Sounds like a Tom Cruise syndrome here.

What if Gays went on strike? You mean kinda like "A day without homos" ? That would be a nice relief. Perhaps they could all just split during the holiday season. I hear Guadalupe is nice this time of year. We should encourage them.
