CNN Reporter Slimes Bush: ‘Kool-Aid’ Drinking President Won’t Admit ‘Failure’
NewsBusters ^ | 8 Dec 06 | Scott Whitlock

Perhaps in an attempt to surpass David Gregory, CNN reporter Suzanne Malveaux derided President Bush as a "Kool-Aid" drinker who won’t admit failure in Iraq. In a report for the Friday edition of "American Morning," the White House correspondent discussed Bush’s news conference with British Prime Minister Tony Blair. In additional fits of bias, Malveaux, described the President’s frustration at the lack of progress in Iraq as "the closest you'll get from this president to admitting failure" and noted that "for Mr. Bush, it's not easy to admit mistakes."

I have always thought it is a good idea to follow a leader that will say he is a failure as often as possible; and for those evil capatilist, why can't we all work for bosses that are broke or poor? s/off

It being that this woman cannot even properly pronounce her own first name, what do you expect of her?

Yeah why stick to principles when you can get people to like you. Good thing Ann Frank wasn't hiding in your attic, they're going to find her anyway. She wouldn't have had time to write a post-it.

As his poll numbers plummeted (and have remained low - he won't cross 50% approval ever again, barring unusual circumstance), he seemed uninterested in improving his image. People grew alienated, and lost confidence in his leadership ability.

He's got some kind of "genteel Texan" belief that personal attacks should be ignored and risen above - and while that may be good advice for interpersonal relationships, it's suicide in DC politics.

I've no doubt in thirty years the historians will acclaim Bush and revile Clinton. But a fat lot of good that does us, now. ;)

I am principled. In the abortion issue, I just don't see where we advance in the legislative arena if a majority of people disagree with us.

What is the legislative role of the pro life agenda then?

As long as 1/2 the people want legal abortion, 1/4 doesn't, and the other 1/4 doesn't care much, abortion won't be outlawed in any jurisdiction. How is recognizing that unprincipled?

"for Mr. Bush, it's not easy to admit mistakes."

For CNN, it's not easy to admit irrelevance.

I am just stunned that she really did say this on live TV; it looks like something that would have been posted on FR:

Suzanne Malveaux: "President Bush and his closest ally, British Prime Minister Tony Blair, have stood shoulder to shoulder on the Iraq war since the very beginning. Critics calling Mr. Bush 'the cowboy' for stubbornly leading the charge, and Mr. Blair 'the poodle' for obediently following. But three years since the U.S. invasion, the two are still adamant their Iraq mission is sound. President Bush didn't just drink the Kool-Aid, he made it. But perhaps now it's a little less sweet."

I agree Mr. J. The GOP needs a killer instinct - the suits in DC just don't have it.

They are not journalists nor reporters.

They are correspondents that relay their opinion of events.

How could a space shuttle travel at almost 18 times the speed of light? If that happened, how were we able to see it?

Haha, that wouldn't surprise me if the CNN anchors borrowed some talking points from the Kos crowd. From what I have read, I believe CNN's ratings are down lately . . . and deservedly so.

Heh, stole the words right outta my mouth.

I don't think anyone will be shocked by this development. Or when it further contributes to their failure as a "news" network.

I called her and left my name and phone number along with a scathing message. I asked if she wrote those words or was told to read them, and at what school she learned that kind of journalism.
