This is long and appeared in the body of another thread, but considering the conversation it has aroused, I figured it deserved its own thread.
The voters of the State of Pennsylvania have done something phenomenally stupid by throwing this man out of office. They have assured that the Senate will continue to be the hang out of political hacks, liars, crooks, cowards, and scoundrels--from both parties.

Yes. Something we dearly need, and are suffering from a major lack of it.

Rick Santorum is a better man. I hope he seriously thinks about running for President. We could use his talents in the Oval Office.

I agree. This speech truly deserves its own thread.
Rick Santorum may very well be regarded as one of the lone voices who warned us about the abyss we are sliding towards - much like Churchill did prior to WWII.
I would love to see Santorum be nominated for UN Ambassador - but I fear his former colleagues would shoot him down too. Just like they did to John Bolton.

We need leaders like Senator Santorum. So.....our electorate sends him packing. I believe Mr. Santorum is not finished politically. I pray not.

The voters in Pennsylvania should be ashamed. This country is on a slippery slope and we need more people like Sen. Santorum.

Unfortunately for the rest of this country, this is true.

I have said repeatedly that Rick Santorum was the best and truest conservative we had in the Senate. I think too many people focused on his supposed weakness when he was persuaded to support Specter in the primary.
Even if that was wrong, it was one mistake in a long and distinguished career. Conservatives who stayed home for that reason were total idiots. Bob Casey is not his father, and that will soon enough be evident.
It's far too late for Santorum to run for president. After losing the senate race, he hasn't a chance. Good luck to those who sat back and let Casey win.

The brightest one is sent home. I was captivated by Santorum's speech. He is presidential material.

To those in my state of Pennsylvania who voted against Rick Santorum...what part of the above speech do you NOT understand?????
I can only hop that the loss of Rick in the State of Pa. means that he will go on to serve in a greater capacity of leadership. While I do not agree on some of his other choices..his view and understanding of the threat we face is clear and accurate.

YES...the DEMOCRATS that think that empty suit CASEY was better, (only run on his dead father's name).
YES...the REPUBLICANS that thought they would teach Rick a lesson he would never forget, (they punish the rest of us that supported Rick).
YES...THEY did a GREAT disservice to Pennsylvania, the United States of America and to every human being living there.
Yes...ask them if they are proud of themselves...their answer:
"WHY YES WE ARE"
