Hillary may have the buzz, but Rudy has the better poll numbers - at least for now. A new WNBC/Marist College survey yesterday found that while Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) is the most popular presidential option among Democrats, a whopping 47% of all voters say they would "definitely not" vote for the former First Lady if she runs for President in 2008. By contrast, a full two-thirds of voters say they remain open to voting for former Mayor Rudy Giuliani - who would best Clinton, 49% to 43%, if the 2008 race were held today. The numbers suggest that the Republican Giuliani - whose pre-9/11 record remains a blank to most voters - has room to grow, while Clinton begins with nearly half the electorate aligned against her, experts said.
"The bottom line is that there is very little room for error in a Hillary-for-President campaign," says Marist College pollster Lee Miringoff. Not that Giuliani is without challenges. The poll found that while Giuliani remains the top pick among GOP voters, a full 47% of those voters - when told that Giuliani is pro-choice, pro-gun control and pro-gay rights - say such issues could be a "major factor" in their eventual decision. Aides to Giuliani declined to comment on the numbers, but Clinton pollster Mark Penn argued that Clinton has consistently proven she can expand her base of supporters. "When she started in New York, many people said they'd never vote for her - and she just won reelection with 67% of the electorate," said Penn.

Right, you get liberalism and conservatives get screwed.
No thanks.
If you haven't forgotten, the Islamofascists are still at war with the west.
Put Hillary in charge, and you can thank yourself for
1) Ahmadinejad getting nukes for his apocalypse
2) Gitmo terrorists all released back into circulation
3) Patriot Act repealed
4) Iraqi Democracy stabbed in the back Jimmy Carter-style
5) Israel stabbed in the back Jimmy Carter-style
6) 100% Universal health care
7) Passing the Kyoto protocal
8) Higher taxes
9) Activist ACLU judges on our highest courts
10) Amnesty for all illegals
11) Protectionism, known as "fair trade" in Newspeak
12) UN veto over American foreign policy
Conservatives have a fear of victory or something. We are one judge away from overturning a lot of bad policy from Affirmative Action to Roe v Wade to school prayer.
And you want to stab a guy who has been loyal to the party in the back now and let Hillary, one of our greatest enemies, attain complete power with a Dem Congress? There is no excuse for rejecting one's responsibilities in this fashion.
There is no use in trying to reason with him. He is an unpragmatic, far right extremist nut that believes if you differ from him on anything you're a liberal RINO.
Obviously you learned nothing from the Nov7th election outcome. Bush and the GOP ignored their conservative base, and they paid a severe price. The worst Congressioanl election defeat suffered by a Republican President, since Herbert Hoover in 1932. If the same events play out in 2008, the GOP will lose the WH for at least 8 years. The Democrats will once again dominate inside WashDC.
I as a Catholic will never vote for a pro abortion, pro gay candidate. I can not ever vote for Rino Rudy. Period.
You believe someone who supports abortion on demand and opposes a partial birth abortion ban, is the right man to lead America. That is not what Reagan believed. Yet even after FReeper sitetest put you in your place on the abortion issue, you still post the same SPAM, over and over, again and again.
" If Giuliani runs, if he somehow he gets the GOP nomination, and if Hillary is his opponent, the likely outcome will be another Clinton in the WH."
LOL
"Obviously you learned nothing from the Nov7th election outcome. Bush and the GOP ignored their conservative base, and they paid a severe price."
Huh? Actually Congress did nothing this year, there were corruption scandals and Iraq is very unpopular which led to independent moderates that voted for Bush in 2004 to want change and thus they vote for Democrats in 2006. Also, there was the "6 year itch" thing as well which is a well documented historical trend.
"The worst Congressioanl election defeat suffered by a Republican President, since Herbert Hoover in 1932."
You must have forgotten about the 1974 Watergate election.
Sitetest didn't put me in my place on abortion. I feel exactly what I said is correct. Why are you bring sitetes into this. Can't you argue on your own or do you have to have sitetest to double team me?
"Moderates" sold us down the river.
That's quite an admission.
So what issue is it you wanted to debate?
I mentioned sitetest, I respect sitetest, so I ping him. Two against one is too much for you. I usually have the "desperate housewives" of FR coming after me full speed ahead. You don't see me whining. Why should you. LOL
Its actually kind of fun to have honest disagreements with agreeable people. Its really not any fun to have disagreements with disagreeable people. Most people on here don't hold a grudge and keeping attacking you personally for weeks when you disagree with them. I respect these people. We agree to disagree and move on amicably. An example is Freeper Fierce Allegiance with whom I had an on going discussion with recently and when it was over we moved on. However, you and sitetest are perhaps the most disagreeable people I have ever met on here. You two won't move on amicably and respectfully. Therefore I really have nothing else to say to you. We've said all we really need to say to one another.
So you don't want to debate an issue right now. Okay.
To all those that seem to be dismissing every viable Republican candidate for 2008 I say this. The 2008 general election may end up being akin to being home bound by a major blizzard. You go to the fridge thinking steak with a baked potato for dinner and it ends up being sausage and biscuits. In other words, you go with what you have or you don't eat. If we end up with Rudy, McCain or some other Republican against Hitlery I will take what I have and vote for the Republican. There won't be any staying home or voting 3rd party for me.
Gee thanks! You just gave me a heartburn!
Nothing with you anyways. Maybe when you get a personality transplant.
Sorry, you're so intimidated. But we're not debating personalities here. We're debating issues. You'd undertsand that, if you could control your emotions better.
