I don't think Santorum was going to win either way.
Pennsylvania has shifted pretty far to the left in recent years.....

As the barbarians approach the gates, and our enemies conspire outside and within the empire.......the senators argue over pay per view football.
God help us all.

Good evening.
The government just took away our right to subscribe to network programming outside of our local area.
That means we have to watch San Francisco network programming, which makes it impossible for my wife to watch many of the shows she like. She is sleep by the time most shows come on and they would compete with each other anyway.
Can anyone tell me why Snarlin Arlin and the other tyrants in government even want to do this to us?

Ya know, that's the first thing that entered my mind. They didn't lobby him for something and now he's trying to show them that he's still relevant.
Or something...
Trying to figure out Specter is convoluted sometimes...

The answer to why Arlen is doing this can be found in the final quote.
He is doing Comcast's bidding.
Comcast owns Philly - he and Fast Eddie are both in their pocket. Comcast is pi$$ed that they can't get a chunk of the Sunday Ticket money for themselves, since the NFL does not make it available on cable (instead selling exclusive rights to DirecTV.)
Since they can't make a deal with the NFL, they are instead siccing their favorite Washington attack dog on them.
Nothing new under the sun - especially with regards to Philly politics.

I'd only worry about that if someone supports him from the GOP. Chances are he won't get that support from the GOP. Maybe from the competition and business hating DEMS, but probably not the GOP.

I'm just grateful that the senior Senator from Pennsylvania has the big issues properly prioritized. I guess there's nothing for Sen. Specter to work on now that the Iraq Surrender Group has solved all of the world's problems!

I am a little conflicted on this issue, because I think that by allowing DirecTV to have Sunday Ticket exclusive of other providers, and by allowing Sirius to have the NFL games exclusive of XM Radio, and by allowing EA Sports to have the NFL players license exclusively over all other game programmers, the NFL is helping to create de facto monopolies in those areas. That leads to higher prices. There is no way NFL Sunday Ticket should cost as much as it does, but DirecTV is able to charge whatever they want to for it because it has a monopoly in that area.

"Think of what this will do to sports bars... Hell yeah.....
They may as well not exist without those sports packages. The days of a zillion TVs with any game you want to see would be a thing of the past. My guess is that some cable lobbyist has lined Specter's pockets and his people called the Dish lobbyists, and didn't get as much money.
I long for the day when we as a nation all at once just refuse to pay federal taxes and reduce people like Arlen Specter to the relevancy of a dog catcher.

It's the NFL's product, they can do whatever they want with it.
People are certainly free to start another league or not watch it. It isn't as if the NFL is required to live life or anything.
He shouldn't be going after the NFL.
