Bush Says Victory in Iraq is Important

Victory?
THEN CHANGE THE RULES OF ENGAGEMENT!
Defeat the enemy. Pound them until they surrender. THEN rebuild.
What we are doing now is just stupid.
They painted themselves into a corner though. Aggressive campaigning could win the war militarily if coupled with other strategies (including dissolving the Iraqi government and installing a military governor), but it would show the raison d'etre of the war, establishing a democracy in Iraq, to be bunk. Bush made the mistake of justifying the war by gimmicks before it was won on the ground. We'd lose just as much face doing what we have to do to win as we would by letting it go.
If only they had crushed the rioting after the fall of Saddam. But they didn't, and it showed the Iraqis that we did not have what it takes to undergo a successful occupation and pacification of a large country.
Heard that too. Laughed to myself.
That has a lot of competition in the "height of arrogance" department with Baker's pronouncement from on high that we should just take the Golan Heights from Israel and give it to Syria.
That one item right there ought to be enough for any real thinking person to know where this report belongs (hint - mine's under my desk).
If you measure effectiveness on the level of public support for our continued presence in Iraq, he has not been effective. Moreover, the public does not see Iraq as part of the WOT. Bush must use his bully pulpit more effectively.
I hit the abuse button on this jackass. He's a pain in the rear. We need a break of the relentless trashing of the President.
I believe the media has done the real work for the opposition over the last 2 years, far more than the Democrat politicians themselves. The importance of this is not to be denied, even though most Americans probably do not get it. OTOH, I haven't watched TV in 10 or 12 years, so I may not be as swayed by it as most.
Still, my view of things is that we are in trouble because W and his people were unwilling or unable to win decisively againt the insurgents in Iraq.
My belief, even though W declined to articulate it, is that we went into Iraq, not to find WMD's, not to give democracy to Iraqis, but primarily to win another victory over an evil Islamic state, and thus win another decisive victory in the WOT. If we leave now, the opposite effect will have been achieved - the scoreboard will show the terrorists with a big lead over the Western world. W is the commander in chief on this, victory or defeat is his responsibility by definition. Credit or blame, whichever is pertinent when this thing ends, will be his.
I sure hope your vision is wrong.
Amazing the media blackouts of hearing this president speeches and comments. You'd think he never speaks.
As opposed to you, who regurgitates leftist anti-war rhetoric on a conservative forum, and then tells people who disagree with you to 'bake cookies.'
You, mr miller, are a fraud.
would love to see him land from a plane after I stick his head up his ass...I love honest banter back and forth, but punk like generalities get my Texas up and I'm not unable.
"..we are defending freedom and the American way of life there."
Huh? While we are giving up the American way of life at home?
Not a single country on earth would welcome the UN in their midst.
Considering the EU cannot deal with the terrorists in their own midst, how can they possibly add anything constructive to Iraq.
It may not be their choice if Congress decides otherwise. Once you set a date to draw down our combat troops not linked to the conditions on the ground, it becomes harder to justify the loss of American lives. You are either committed to victory or not.
You can't blame the warping of the American mind by the left on poor communications skills.
He uses the bully pulpit very effectively when it comes to the war. It's just that no one except conservative news junkies like us even hear him.
That's reality, kabar.
With Hillary it's different. She is pure evil where Kerry was pathetic. The conservative movement needs to be strong, united and purposeful - not tearing each other to pieces.
Regards, Ivan
You will see exactly how the aftermath of the fall of Baghdad was planned.
Actually the baby-boomer libs likely remember it very well. It was a very, very well known and emphatic statement. The problem is that they also remember that it wasn't worth the proverbial paper it was written on. I believed him at the time, but it turned out to be just big empty words from a guy reading what his speechwriter wrote, and probably really thinking about his next meeting with Marilyn Monroe.
hey good sir, a question...what do you think Bakers real intentions were ? a legacy or a photo shoot ? He knew was was a Dubya outsider politically cause he wasn't there anytime prior. He is great when he is right but way to one world screw the jews liberal for me. I'm not jewish but my allegence to them is cause God and Christ told me to.And why.
