Pelosi: Baker Report Proves Bush Has Failed By Nathan Burchfiel CNSNews.com Staff Writer December 06, 2006
(CNSNews.com) - Nancy Pelosi, the incoming Democratic speaker of the House, on Wednesday praised the Iraq Study Group's report on the Iraq war and said the report proves "that the President's Iraq policy has failed and must be changed."
Earlier, President Bush said the country "is tired of pure political bickering that happens in Washington." Bush said it's best for the country if Democrats and Republicans work together, and he expressed the hope that report "will give us all an opportunity to find common ground."
After blasting Bush's handling of the war, Pelosi pledged to work with him to end it.
"If the President is serious about the need for change in Iraq," she said in a statement, "he will find Democrats ready to work with him in a bipartisan fashion to find a way to end the war as quickly as possible."
Pelosi said Democrats "are committed to ensuring that the ideas of the Iraq Study Group, as well as the ideas of other thoughtful people inside and outside of the government, are given full consideration in that process."
Pelosi mentioned only one of the group's recommendations, which is to change the primary mission of U.S. troops in Iraq from combat to training and support.
"Now that the Study Group has endorsed this proposal," Pelosi said, "I hope that the President will recognize that he must take our policy in Iraq in a new direction."
She did not address the group's other recommendations, which include forming a "support group" among Iraq and its neighbors in Iran and Syria and beginning to withdraw troops from Iraq "by the first quarter of 2008."
REALITY PROVES BAKER REPORT HAS FAILED
Barbara Boxer said the ISG report adopted Carl Levin's approach to Iraq. Enough said.
Anything in the ISG about regime change in Syria and Iran?
Well, that bi-partisan effort didn't last long, did it?
Sandra Day O'Connor must be so pleased!
The President is actually the Executive of the Senate. The Senate is annoyed that the President is popularly elected, but they are mollified that they get to select all the Cabinet, which are mere extensions of the President.
Four years of constant harping that Bush has failed has succeeded into convincing many that he has in fact failed.
Perhaps with America and Americans rightfully behind him you and your colleagues could have been a part of that success instead of giving aid and comfort to the terrorists and those who support them.
It's fascinating to ponder what sort of mind can actually decide that a "report" written by a bunch of bureaucrats "proves" something about the real world.
Ha! - The bi-partisan spirit of co-operation of politics in Washington DC.
How did I know she would try to use this as shiv in the President's back?
Couple hours.
Vernon Jordon on the ISG...enough said for me.
It is absurd to publicly release a report on strategy in an ongoing war. But then the report is absurd.
High volume. Articles on Israel can also be found by clicking on the Topic or Keyword Israel, WOT

Underscores the importance of bi-partisan panels, the advisee is always wrong.
I hope President Bush makes these low-life scumbag, slimy, Democrat-Socialist-Communist pigs suffer for the next two years.
Since when does the President, as Commander in Chief, take orders from the House Speaker-elect and an independent advisory commission? These are ideas and proposals to be evaluated, and already much of it seems ill advised. Pelosi is not showing much in the way of smarts as she gets underway in the House. I'm hoping that Bush takes the time to define leadership in contrast to this feel good effort at superficial "consensus". All the ISG seems to have tried to do is put a nice facade on abandoning Iraq. That means that the nearly 3,000 dead in that effort will have died in vain. I don't think this President will accept that.
The much waited for Baker report was released in two parts. The first part outlining the proposals was released in Washington, D.C.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadgenocide (sp?) released the second part of the Commission report in Iran just a couple of hours ago. The second part contains specifics.
The policies towards Iran must be revised and the Bush Administration must "return to spirituality or otherwise face their own collapse," Ahmadgenocide (sp?) read from the Baker report.
"Keep angry and die of this anger" warned the Commission report released in Iran.
Up till now, O'Connor has only advocated for placing Americans under european socialist law. Now it appears she'd like to see us living under Shari'a. Ronald Reagan is rolling over in his grave.

I wonder how the President can keep a straight face and not explode in laughter when he met this morning these clowns form the Iraq Study Group. Think about a judge like OConnor making war recommendations and the CIC has to sit down with her and pretend that he is listening.
