Just heard on CNN Headline News he was found. Rescue personal saw flashing object and found him. No word of his condition.
(ROFL)
Sitting around waiting for help just isn't in the personality make-up of some people. They are do-ers. They want answers.
Also, there was no guarantee that the mother and girls would have been found WITHOUT Mr. Kim walking for help. The mother and children were fortunate.
Add on to that the people here who are suggesting that he was some sort of idiot. If he was born and raised in San Francisco or the Bay Area, then he was born and raised in a highly urban area where snow is extremely rare. Potential bad decisions by him were more based on ignorance than poor common sense. He was not an idiot.
Me too...this is so sad. :(
Surrounded by snow?
Oh that's too bad, but not surprising.
Criticizing, finger wagging, second guessing, Monday morning quarterbacking--all the same.
I felt the same way.....I was mad he didn't stay with them too. They found the wife and kids due to HER ingenuity waving the umbrella. Very sad.
Here in Oregon, we have this happen once every couple of years. Backroads here are treacherous, and people don't understand how dangerous it is.
Prayers to the family.
Scott
Just keep digging that hole.
How would you thaw the snow?
This thread is being filled by a bunch of snippy types talking past each other. One poster's statement that the family is alive because of his ingenuity and resolve is taken by another to imply that they are alive because he left to find help, which is clearly not the case (although they are probably alive in large part because of what he did before he left). Cue all hell breaking loose.
Eating snow consumes a lot of Calories and lowers body temperature.
I don't criticize Mr. Kim's intentions. I will criticize his decisions, though.
C-Net has more pull in the tech industry then any company around. It would be nice if some cell phone towers were installed in that area...Kim Towers.
Surrounded by snow?
How warm would a person stay if they were drinking or eating snow?
Mother Nature is a cruel mistress.
Yup! Feel like crying myself...tragic. Father died trying to do the right thing.
Same up here in Washington. Even experienced hikers over do it and get lost. Recently we've been lucky and found a couple before it was too late.
A child that small can die of dehydration very quickly without sustenance. Surrounded by snow?
Oh, I have no doubt that you will.
