BINGO! I suggest we made our mistake back in 1941, when we bolstered those G damned Brits who couldn't fight on their own, got kicked out of Europe at Dunkirk, and we went in and saved their lousy asses at great cost to ourselves. Why didn't Roosevelt just threaten to cut off all support?
Say hello to the era of American cowardice and absurdity.

"Scarborough is now saying that seeing those men up on that stage filled him with a great sense of pride."

Yep, the U.S. is a strange country in some respects.

"If this is seriously the political climate in Washington - volunteer the conquered land of a third-party nation to appease a bunch of terrorists"

Call it the "Munich" option.

President Bush cannot be elected again, now is the time for strong positve action. One last push in Iraq and victory is certain.

Now, people who are morally weak shy away from the challenge and seek to appease the enemy.

It is time to throw the media liars out from Iraq and to crackdown hard on the enemy. Not 72 hours perhaps, but 72 days....

The "Belmont Club," the "Winds of Change" along with "In from the Cold" have had a running dialog of some fascinating stuff of late. I'd also check "Threats Watch" and the "Counterterrorism Blog."

In all, from what I can glean, much is going on (Iraq Study Group or no). The Sunni vs. Shi'a divide is growing with the paramilitary militias breaking along predictable divides. The Sunnis made a huge mistake in Iraq by refusing to join the government and now other forces will have to enter the arena.

Scarborough works for MSNBC, which pitches itself to DU and DailKOS crowd. Ask Bill Gates why this is so.

My son just came back. Not sure if I count or not. But here is my 2-cents anyway :-)

Like most parents of deployed soldiers, especially those in combat units like my son is, I want the fighting to stop. But I also want the mission to be accomplished. Whatever will accomplish those two goals in the quickest amount of time, I am in favor of. I don't care if Bush has to eat crow to make it happen or not. Looks like Bush is willing to look at changing things. I like the fact Rumsfeld is gone, that will hasten the change, I hope.

As far as the ISG report is concerned. I don't like negotiating with Iran over anything right now. They are directly responsible for a number of my son's friends being injured in Iraq and if they had their way, my son would be dead now. The sooner we deal with that threat the better all around. From what I can tell, the rest of the recommendations are already, more or less, being implemented now.

More trainers would be a good thing.

Embedding combat units with Iraqi units is chancy since we can't trust all Iraqi units and we don't know who might get their throats cut while they sleep. My son was stationed at a IP station in Baqubah and he slept with his 9mm next to him at night because he didn't trust being there.

From what I heard from the new to be SECDEF was OK but actions speak louder than words. We will see how he performs.

"Well, if you are an aging ex-hippie who wishes to relive your glory days of vitenam protests"

You mean like Bill Clinton? He was just a liar and a coward.

Tim Russert is on MSNBC saying that the reports mentions giving the Golan Heighst to Syria????????

WHAT?!?!?!?!

They are friggin nuts!!

Yea but - imagine the tab that Baker will present to his Saudi/Arab clients if it happens. He was able to deliver The Golan Heights without another shot being fired. I'd say that would be a billable item.

"Imagine suggesting a representative of the UN be part of the solution. Imagine the EU being part of the solution."

Inviting Iran and Syria to help solve the problem was bad enough. You have to wonder what conflict this group was thinking about.

"Russert says the Committee is bold and commanding, that the Presidency is over, the WOT is over, the Committee is saving the ME from anarchy, the Dems will run the country now."

That's the funniest thing I have ever read.

No, I'm not kidding.

"That's the funniest thing I have ever read."

You might be speaking a little prematurely, seeing as how the Democrat majority has yet to be sworn in.
