I'm too old and stubborn to let the poodles nipping around my heels bother me. It is too bad I can't enlist and go fight these bastards.

Interesting. That's the ONLY post you seem to have ever made. And I just read your profile.

Wasn't Bush given a copy of this report yesterday? If so, his silence and that of the WH team haven't uttered a word against it IIRC. Wonder why?

My guess he's known what's in it for awhile. James Baker is an advisor. They talk. He just appointed a study group member for Sec of Defence. He wouldn't do that if he was in the dark about the group's recomendations.

Who's been getting hummers from interns that needs to find them a job at American Express?

I beg your pardon. Vernon Jordan comes more highly recommended than that. It was Revlon not American Express.

"Is there something wrong with US?"

Yes, people value appearance over substance. We get this commission of aging Washington insiders with too much time on their hands, and people, particularly the MSM, think its wonderful. PR images are the only thing these people know how to deal with.

I agree. I listened to Hamilton's remarks. I would summarize the plan as declare defeat and go home.

I have been pushing the 1936 story, as well.

Iraq=Spain.

The big one is coming.

Oh FGS, we are going to have an Iraq "support group."

Hey, that's nothin'. Just wait until we start bringing the 'displaced Iraqis' to the US.

... yes , this IS being treated like a coup by the media!

. . . just now , on the noon news here on WABC-TV [NYC] , Jim Dolan said in his segment on The Report, will President Bush "... pay the least bit of attention to it," (his voice , with that oh, so familiar distain!)

The night we lost the house and senate, that was my 1st thought. Just bring all our brave ones home. The majority of the country have decided to surrender.

OMG....O'Connor thinks if a large consensus of the country "gets behind" their report, it will have to be impplemented and she now tells the press it's UP TO YOU to interpret it and get the country behind it????

My head is STILL exploding. I've never liked that woman but I have never wanted to yank her bald-headed more than I do today.

My wife and I were talking about that just last night, given the state of affairs.

Be sure to buy heirloom seeds - they will produce viable seeds for the next season and are much hardier.

Many of us are prepared for whatever politicians or terrorist throw at us. You ever look at this site, everything you need to know, if not, there will be a link to it. :-)

Did you not hear O'Connor?

Everything she said was spot on!

All she correctly said was that without public support, the effort in Iraq will be lost!

As for the Golan Heights, it has been on the table for years. The reason it has not happened is that the Israelis cannot get the value for it in the negotiations, much less find anyone who can be trusted to negotiate in good faith on the other side.

it is simply a statement of fact, but it does not change the reality or the complexity of the conflict. So it won't happen, but putting it on paper is not wrong.

I am amazed at the blind knee jerking going on here. It is reason we lost the election and why we cannot be trusted as Republicans.

There is nothing in this report that Bush or the Military generals will have a problem with, except for Iran and Syria's inclusion in a Iraq solution. It is all factual things that are either underway or coming down the road. It is a summary of Bush's current policy.

I have no idea why you see this as different.

The U.S. public has a tiny attention span now. 9/11 is ancient history to most people, especially those who do not live near New York or Washington. All they are seeing now on their front pages is misery and death, they have bought the MSM propaganda that Iraq and 9/11 were not related and Iraq was a "war of choice," and they want to stop reading about it and go shopping.

People in this country also REALLY do not get the point that allowing Iran to take over the Middle East is economic as well as political suicide for this country. If people did not like $3 a gallon gas last summer, they are really not going to like $5 and $6 a gallon gas. Our economy will tank fast and furious. This will be far more effective than further terrorist attacks which just piss us off and will result in U.S. troops returning. The American people will not demand a war over economics, they will just blame the government for the high prices, inflation, and resulting depression. I am really not worried about another 9/11; I am worried about economic terrorism.

This is why I think you are smart. Don't buy more guns -- buy gold, buy food, start your vegetable garden, make sure you have the ability to survive for a year if you lose your job, pay off your debts, get a car that gets good gas mileage, and refinance your adjustable rate mortgage now if you can.

James Baker believed that leaving Saddam Hussein in power was the path of least resistance; he didn't care about millions of poor Iraqis being brutalized by Saddam, or about Israel being under the continued threat of Iraqi attack. He cared about ensuring political stability and cheap oil. The only reason we had Gulf War I was because the Saudis felt threatened by Saddam and Bush I was not going to risk an Iraq invasion of Saudi Arabia.

"And Israel is being set up the way Poland was in 1939"

Czechoslovakia in 1938 is a better analogy. The muzzies expect Israel to be handed to them. I can't believe they want to fight with Israel.

Russert says the Committee is bold and commanding, that the Presidency is over, the WOT is over, the Committee is saving the ME from anarchy, the Dems will run the country now. And Scarborough agrees, chuckling.

Did he actually SAY that Bush's presidency was over?

And I hate that POS Scarborough.

Life imitates Star Trek.

On Deep Space Nine, Star Fleet had a group of idiot savants study to see if it was possible for the Federation to win the war. The group said the war was a hopeless cause and better to surrender.

When Sisko tells the group to get stuffed, the Federation will fight, they try to help the enemy win in order they think to save lives.
