Yep. Giving the Soviets the entire East bloc did wonders for world peace and stabilty for about 50 years or so. Didn't it?

Kind of hard to give them what they already had.

Thanks very much for your excellent summary. The objective of the Iraq War was to replace Saddam's regime, and that has happened, so... we won.

All these reports, haggling, etc. are just exercises in politically-motivated goalpost-shifting. Largely irrelevent.

Next significant event is when Saddam hangs.

Thanks again.

You might want to keep the Burka for use here!

"Tim Russert is on MSNBC saying that the reports mentions giving the Golan Heighst to Syria????????"

The minute I heard Jim Baker was back, I thought to myself that Israel was well and truly screwed. I don't doubt it for a second.

You two are on an even keel, like Prsident Bush is. Thanks for that, and for being "here".

It sounds to me like this committee was taken over by the Clintonista's... (I don't look at O'Connor as one of us, she is an Internationalist)... everyone can read this report and think another eight years and how many attacks we will endure on our home soil because of them.

I believe in President Bush and I do see this could change his legacy. He is up for the challenge!

The decisions are his and his alone. IMO, if he's not going to follow the report, he made an error "endorsing" the study group, by having it headed by a "family" advisor of known views, and by reaching into the study group for his Sec of Defence. We'll see what he does. You're correct that his "legacy" is at stake, though that shouldn't be the basis for decisions.

" God help us. All this tittering and giggling is making me want to retch."

The guffaws and self congratulatory gushing was disgusting and unbecoming.
They acted like they were at a DC cocktail party-only thing missing was the sound of glasses clinking and waiters passing canapes.
Russert called them " a Blue Ribbon Commission "- Blue Veiners is more like it.
Ten soldiers who have seen combat would have more credibility and better suggestions than these fossils.
Can anyone tell me what Vernon Jordan brought to the table-other than Monica Lewinsky ?
This is being treated like a coup by the gleeful media.
The idea that the duly elected President of the United States should bow to the military will of Leon Panetta, Vernon Jordan, Sandra Day O'Connor and Chuck ( I only had a nude massage, not sex ! ) Robb is unbelieveable.

It's basically 1936. The Islamofascists are growing more confident by the day that nobody in the US will get up the guts to stop them. This, of course, means that total war is inevitable unless leadership of vision and clarity strides onto the scene very soon. And that does not seem likely. No, we are going to use the standard approach that killed untold millions in the last century. Namely, waiting until Israel is overrun, or we are WMD'd to finally get the big picture.

With the things O'Connor was saying, like getting the press to rally the people behind the report...sounds like more than just a report.

It is a call to rally, the question is to rally to what?

Ok, thanks,

so the report, the committee and their recomendations are non-binding and probably being made based on some hidden agenda.

I appreciate your response.

Is there something wrong with US? Is there something WE aren't "getting," something I don't understand??

I am feeling very "parallel universe" here.

If General Patton would have had his way, the Soviet Army would have been driven to Siberia.

It's basically 1936.

And Israel is being set up the way Poland was in 1939 - left hanging out to dry by erstwhile allies committed to its defense.
