It seems that in all the commotion surrounding the Wii Japan launch, one (un)lucky fan found himself the center of attention at a local Akiba Yodobashi store, handing out the first Wii. How did this happen? It's a case of mistaken identity, dear Watson.

Oddly, he wasn't the only one in costume. They showed him on stage at one opening where they pulled the string on a ball and confetti dropped out, but in another store there was a man in a blue costume (Maybe Sonic, sorry, I don't know my characters) at the same type of ceremony.
And somewhere else there was a guy dressed up as a Wii controller.
However, what would have made this story interesting is if he had managed to walk out with a Wii without waiting in line, simply because they thought he was a company representative.....
Could someone please post the pic? My office filter blocks "gaming" related sites. =(
