THank you! I would not have thought of a tire fire.

Just told my husband about this and he said he wouldn't have been able to stay with the car,,he would have walked for help. Now maybe he will listen.

The rules of the fours:
Under extreme circumstances, human survival is roughly based on-
4 hours of exposure, seek or keep shelter. Hypothermia and hyperthermia kill quickly.

4 days of water. Without exertion the average person will dehydrate in 96 hours.

4 weeks of nutrition. With minimal exertion the average person in good health can subsist on minimal nutrients.

4th variable is that any of the combinations of the above are exacerbated by illness or injury. Always have a plan and itinerary with two trusted sources.

Existing medical conditions or handicaps must be accounted for. Hopefully this man is adept at survival.

Mine said the same thing. "There's no way I would have stayed in that car when I could have possibly saved my family by going for help. You expect me to be a coward so we all either live or die together? I don't think so. If I can increase the chances of saving you, I will take that chance AFTER supplying you, of course."

Which means, he'll leave tired and weakened. I guess we won't be taking any vacations in the great Northwest in the fall.
