If conservatives had realized that his guest worker program would have screened out everyone who did not have a job and an employer willing to vouch for them this number would be about 20% of what is given here. All that shamnesty stuff gives us lots more welfare recipients etc. You should learn that politics is the art of the possible not of temper tantrums and thumping your chest asserting "we are the base".
I don't believe they have enough of a majority to do what this article claims. What I *do* believe they have is the majority necessary to pass the senate bill from last year.

Sounds a lot like a distinction without a difference. How many illegals were booted the last time we had an "amnesty", which was under Regan/Bush Sr.? We get screwed either way.
