LONDON – Reports that KGB defector Alexander Litvinenko converted to Islam before his mysterious poisoning with radioactive polonium 210 is raising suspicions that he may have been involved in a plot to smuggle the deadly substance to terrorist groups willing to pay millions even for a gram, Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin is reporting today.

Scotland Yard detectives are now trying to discover if Litvinenko had any secret links with Islamic extremist terror groups, the London Sunday Express is reporting.

Their biggest fear, the paper reports, is that Litvinenko, who died of polonium-210 poisoning in a London hospital, may have been helping al-Qaida or other extremist groups get hold of radioactive material to be used in a devastating "dirty" atom bomb.

Britain's secret intelligence service MI6 had earlier learned that al-Qaida was prepared to pay $3 million a gram for polonium 210, G2 Bulletin reported last week.

Just because Litvinenko was attracted to Islam doesn't mean he was an Islamic terrorist.

Just because Ahmed Zakayev, another Muslim player for power, said so, it doesn't follow he was.

I'd believe this guy for nothing. The first thought is that he is trying to repair his relationship with Putin's regime and offers it a hand...

As to the idea that Litvinenko smuggled material for a dirty nuke, it is laughable. Nuke made of Polonium?! Return the journo who conceived this to secondary school... or may it be the first time he'd go to one?

Another funny question is why Russians decided to kill Litvinenko with all that publicity, leaving the traces that led back to them...

The answer is that

a) there is no bad publicity;

b) their goal was to intimidate and frighten other whistle blowers - quite death of Litvinenko wouldn't serve the purpose;

c) they denied even the fact that there was any offensive weaponry in Cuba when the ballistic missiles were unloaded from the Soviet ships 24/7...

MOSCOW: Alexander Litvinenko, the former Russian intelligence agent poisoned in London, requested before his death that he be buried according to Muslim tradition, his father said in an interview published on Monday.

The former agent and critic of the Kremlin expressed the wish as he lay dying in his father's arms, Valter Litvinenko told the Kommersant daily.

"He said I want to be buried according to Islamic tradition. I said okay son. It will be as you wish. We already have one Muslim in our family. The important thing is to believe in the Almighty. God is one," he said in the interview.

Maybe? Garden variety kegebuchaya disinformatsiya, and rather crude one, too. Our resident kegebuns tried to push that crap here before. To convert, one needs to be either mentally or emotionally disturbed - and in his previous line of work people were checked for mental stability.Who needs to discredit him, and in whose eyes?
