TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Commander of the Iranian army's naval force reported of the might and preparedness of the navy for engaging in a war of attrition and striking blows at the enemy's key vulnerable points.
Commander of the navy of the army of the Islamic Republic of Iran Admiral Sajjad Kouchaki who was addressing the enthusiastic host of worshippers in the course of Tehran's Friday prayers today on the occasion of the navy day, referred to the US objective behind stationing its troops in the Persian Gulf region and raising Iran's nuclear activities as an excuse and added that the Americans consider no boundaries for their greed and demands and that they should be aware of the fact that they will certainly experience a strategic surprise in this region.
Commander of the navy of the army of the Islamic Republic of Iran further referred to the recent victory of the Lebanese Hezbollah and expressed the hope that in their analyses of affairs the Americans will consider the recent resistance shown by the Lebanese Hezbollah in order for them to realize what has taken place in the defensive literature of the Middle East, the Shiites in particular.
He further added that the presence of the occupiers and invaders in the region not only has turned the security atmosphere of the Persian Gulf into a challenge rather the illegitimate presence of the occupiers has faced the regional security with a serious crisis.
Kouchaki termed security of the Persian Gulf a key issue for Iran and the entire world adding that the significance of this vital waterway has been integrated into and tied with the independence, sovereignty and values of the Islamic Revolution, therefore any negligence in this regard will entail negative consequences.
Please God, give us the strength and fortitude to destroy these Satanic b@st@ards before they do some real damage to the good people of this Earth, Your greatest Creation. Amen.
Like using a kamikazi 747 (full of Hajis on their way to Mecca in case it's shot down). Shades of USS Vincennes.
As Gomer said it
Surprise Surprise Surprise
The Iranian navy is gonna get a big surprise if they try anything.
Shove it, mullahs.
"You infidels do not have a chance!"
My older brother was the chief engineer of a navy carrier on patrol in the Persian Gulf several years ago. He has told me the Iranian Navy is rusting in port. They rarely sent out patrols and would immediately return to Iranian waters if they were ever challenged. The iranians are like the rest of the moos, they are full of hot air and only understand a good smackdown.
The Iranians have some quite diesel electrics and the ability to raise havoc in the Gulf for about a month until we concentrate forces to administer the Killer Blow.
The strategic fact is, they are a regional navy, not a blue water navy. They are jonesing to put a carrier to the bottom or sink an attack sub. That's the last thing they want to do. This is not to sell them short-NEVER underestimate an enemy. Pearl Harbor taught us that. But they aren't ten feet tall.

you get it.
it's that way with ALL Islamists.
If they are all wiped out except one...he will declare victory.
I'm with you on those land based missiles. Wouldn't it make sense for our AF to take them out before the NAVY moves in?
I think you may not understand...right now we are not in an OFFENSIVE mode in the Gulf.
Should the Iranians start something, that would change. We would agressively hunt all anti-ship weapons...mostly via air...and destroy them.
This guy?
With all due respect to my fellow BoSox fan -
The Iranians have many very, very quiet subs (Kilo Class). They could offer us a at least a tactical surprise and challenge.
Read all about it:

True. True.
Just looking at a map of the region, it would seem suicidal to leave significant US naval assets (a carrier battle group) in the Persian Gulf in the event of war with Iran. Gulf shipping will be temporarily halted, with or without their presence.
The Arabian Sea would be a better location to move our naval assets. With more distance & room to maneuver, our vessels will be safer while still able to contribute to the fight. The Iranians are then gonna have to use radar to try to find us, & you know what happens when our enemies turn on their radars - BOOM!
Meanwhile, back in the Gulf, our aircraft will destroy everything Iranian that floats. Even beach floaties w/ pics of almondhead will be toast. I doubt most Iranian vessels will ever get off a shot at our forces.
Anything they shoot at will probably be civilian, because, well, that's what they do best.
Chris: The Iranians have some quite diesel electrics....
Don't you really mean quiet?
90,000 tons of diplomacy.
