Iran is making their move.

War is the answer, but don't tell the UN.

Where do the Christians in Lebanon figure in all of this?

Hizballah and their masters in Tehran and Damascus have begun the coup d'etat to control Lebanon. The terrorists regimes of Syria and Iran are now making Lebanon a new front of the war on terror.

Unfortunately the Christians are divided. One side is pro-US and with the freely elected government of Lebanon and the other side led by General Aoun a person obsessed with becoming President is allying himself with Syria, Iran, and Hizballah hoping that they will make him President if they succeed in controlling the country.

Uh, Lebanon was setup by the French as a repository for Christians in the ME. The muzzies have been pushing them out for at least the last 50 years.

Really bad.

BTW how does the UNIFIL figure in all of this? A full fledged retreat or are they going to suport the legally elected ("US supported" according to all news sources) government.

"Where do the Christians in Lebanon figure in all of this?"

Weren't they disarmed by Syrian puppets after the civil war back in the mid 80's?

I saw that Aoun had taken part in the pro-Syrian demonstration the other day. And the Druze, led by Jumblatt, are on the other side?

How about the President gives a press conference and starts like this:

-"Ladies and Gentlemen, I have just outlawed Syria. The bombers are on their way to Damascus."

It worked well for RR.

Lebanon should make a deal with Israel to come in and help them throw Hizballah out. I am sure Israel would gladly help and then be happy to move back out of there when the fighting is done.

That was basically the deal cut between the Christians and Israel in 1982, but then the older Gemayel brother was assassinated and the younger brother did not dare to live up to the deal. (It was not Hezbollah who was the enemy then but Syria and the PLO.)

Following the November election, we can expect to see Iran ratchet up the pressure throughout the Middle East, from backing the Shiites in Iraq in battle with the Sunni's, with the objective of fracturing Iraq and gaining control of the oil-rich central and southern regions, and backing Hezbollah in its effort to gain control of Lebanon.

They will continue deployment of offensive weapons systems, advanced defense systems (courtesy of Russia, France, and China), and, inevitably, nukes, and will advance their plan for using Syria and Lebanon (Hizbollah) to harass and eventually destroy Israel.

With Saudi Arabia oil-rich but otherwise relatively weak, they can cajole them into a "mutual defense" pact, funded with petrodollars and supplied by Russia, China, France, and Germany. Once this has been accomplished, they will be able to tell us to jump, and we will meekly ask "How high, Boss?".

With two muslim groups fighting I'm sure they would be in the middle...fair game for both groups
