Radio Hoax Exposes Anti-Muslim Sentiment in U.S.

WASHINGTON (Dec. 1) -- When radio host Jerry Klein suggested that all Muslims in the United States should be identified with a crescent-shape tattoo or a distinctive arm band, the phone lines jammed instantly.

The first caller to the station in Washington said that Klein must be "off his rocker." The second congratulated him and added: "Not only do you tattoo them in the middle of their forehead but you ship them out of this country ... they are here to kill us."

Another said that tattoos, armbands and other identifying markers such as crescent marks on driver's licenses, passports and birth certificates did not go far enough. "What good is identifying them?" he asked. "You have to set up encampments like during World War Two with the Japanese and Germans."

At the end of the one-hour show, rich with arguments on why visual identification of "the threat in our midst" would alleviate the public's fears, Klein revealed that he had staged a hoax. It drew out reactions that are not uncommon in post-9/11 America.

"I can't believe any of you are sick enough to have agreed for one second with anything I said," he told his audience on the AM station 630 WMAL (http://www.wmal.com/), which covers Washington, Northern Virginia and Maryland

An important distinction: Americans do not and should not hate moslems. They should hate islam and mohammed-worship.

mohammed-worship is literally the most primitive and threatening force ever seen by the world, and that is strctly because the barbarism called islam has now intersected with oil money and western technology.

We have it upside down sometimes. We curse moslems but not their primitive, irrational and hate-filled belief system.

It is the complete lack by our president in telling the truth about mohammed-worship which is making our War on Jihad far more difficult and bloody.

Maybe you have some examples of how ignorant bigots are causing such big problems for Muslims in America, since you evidently they are an actual problem, as opposed to a rigged up propaganda talking point of the left/islam-fascist funders?

I really have no idea what you're saying or asking. There is a syntax-disconnect.

Before all you people get all excited and go jumping to conclusions as to what I mean and getting your panties all in a wad and slinging insults and accusations, be aware that I FAVOR racial profiling on Arabs.

I am AWARE that the terrorists are terribly bigoted. Believe me, I have been a target of these morons on more than one occasion. I despise them.

But the "kill them all" and "they're all evil" and "nuke the Middle East" crowds are ignorant yappers and I get tired of hearing them. I have a low threshold for stupidity.

Ignorant bigotry is not the answer to ignorant bigotry.

I see there is a poll on AOL for this story and over half believe the Muslims pose no threat. I guess there will have to be another attack in order for people to wake up.

Many people don't take the threat seriously because our officials have left the border wide open. This discrepancy needs to be explained to the American public.

The problem are the vast numbers of people who refuse to believe there exists a danger from Islamofacist and other sorts of terrorists.

Yes and those people are called "Democrats." I'm fully aware of that.

I'd wager that I've probably come under attack from Islamic terrorists more times than most people on this thread have. I KNOW how dangerous they are.

I believe no one raised hell because the ones in SE US were camps for German WWII soldiers, actual POWs from Europe, noty US citizens of German ancestry. Some other German-Americans were rounded up and held because the FBI or other law-enforcement authorities deemed them a threat because of suspected involvement in Nazi party activities in the US.

They don't need a hoax. All they have to do is ask.

There you go. Thanks.

There are many misconceptions about the whole internment deal.

For instance, ALL the Japanese were not rounded up either. Only those on the West coast that posed a very real threat at the time, given their numbers and proximity to a potential invasion threat.

And many Japanese spies and saboteurs were captured hiding among the legitimate immigrants.

And the interned Japanese were not required to stay in the camps. They were free to leave as long as it was not to the West Coast. Most chose to stay.

The real abuse was locals who appropriated their land and businesses while they were away. This is the real shame for the U.S. in this, not the concept itself.

I am sorry. But, another attack by Islamic terrorists against one or more U.S.targets STILL would not awaken the American public to the nature or seriousness and scope of the threat.

Some were American citizens. Just like the Italians held on Ellis Island were American citizens.

Note: Not all Japanese Americans were rounded up and put in camps. I know of one family in which the grandparents still hold bitter feelings toward each other because one set took off from SF and didn't go to the camp and the other set stayed and was sent to the camp.

Sadly, this is absolutely correct.

Klein is a putz. He would not "get it" until they were dragging the rusty knife across his throat.

As a side note: the only casaulties of World War II on American soil were in Oregon. Victims of Japanese bomb balloons.

I was speaking of the 40´s, and of German-Americans PLUS Italian-Americans. I think they were definitely more than just a quarter of the American nation, but maybe a half would be too many, either.

"I can't believe any of you are sick enough to have agreed for one second with anything I said,"

So that is what Dick Durbin is doing every time he opens his mouth about detainee treatment.

That was a pretty good defense of bigoted rednecks, councilor.

Trouble is, he was responding to a post that didn't say anything about rednecks.

Stop jumping to conclusions and read the post as it really is without adding to it or filtering it. I get irritated at the media for pulling crap like that; I get equally as annoyed at other people when they do it.

Yeah remember when those bigoted, hateful Americans crashed a a few planes into the World Trade Center and Pentagon?

Similar to that same bunch of bigoted, hateful Americans who complained about the poor 6 Islamic (Religion of Peace) Imams who just wanted to do their prayers on the airplane a couple of weeks ago, and then move around to unassigned seats on the plane, in a configuration had closely resembled the dispersal of the 9-11 hijackers. Ignorant bigotry is not the answer to ignorant bigotry

Correct. But knowledgeable bigotry is one answer. Overwhelming force is another.

For instance, I'm bigoted against thieves, murderers, and rapists. I don't want them anywhere near me. I'm quite happy to pay my government in the form of taxes to catch, incarcerate, and when possible execute them.

We have some excellent knowledge of who are the ones causing most of the trouble. They're predominantly muslim males between the ages of 17 and 45. 90% of the time they have 'mohamed' or some variation thereof in their name.

A sizable percentage of the time they wear mustaches.

Nearly 100% of the time they've been 'educated' in a wahabbi mosque somewhere in the world.

Now you can call it bigotry if you like, but it's a damned accurate profile of a likely mass murderer no matter how you slice it. (pun intended)

The facts of the matter are this.

We're (the US) being infiltrated at an alarming rate by the above mentioned 'types' from 2nd and third world countries.

It wouldn't be bigoted to point out these facts. It further wouldn't be bigoted to point out that we have absolutely no national need for these people.

It wouldn't do any serious harm to completely eliminate immigration from these countries and may in fact do a great deal of good.

Point two is overwhelming force. Well, overwhelming force backed up by a willingness to use it.

Pussyfooting around with some low level jihadis in Iraq isn't going to solve the problem. The source of the poison is in Saudi Arabia. Specifically it's in Riyadh and Mecca.

Destroy those two cities utterly and the problem will largely self resolve.

Thanks, as another FReeper said, those were suspects of aiding the Nazis, so they were not imprisoned for their ethnic heritage, but for their membership in the Nazi party or so.

Those were POW camps for prisoners from North Africa. They had to be held in theame climate in which they were captured.

Not the same at all.

It's still about one-quarter ~ even the French are only about one-eighth.

Remember, we had massive Eastern European immigration in the late 1800s and coincident with the Italian flow in the 1920s.

In earlier times 90% of Ireland, Scotland, Manx, Brittany, Wales, Cornwall and Galicia emigrated to America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

At least half the population base of this country benefited from those earlier mass migrations.
