Terri's Story
Terri Schindler Schiavo Foundation ^ | December 3,2006 | Schindler Foundation

Posted on 12/03/2006 3:03:26 AM PST by 8mmMauser

Theresa Marie Schindler was born to Robert and Mary Schindler on December 3, 1963. She was the first of three children the Schindlers would have.

Terri was a shy, but comical, child who had an affinity for music, animals and the arts. She kept a small circle of friends and was dear to schoolmates, neighboring families and her own extended family.

Following high school, Terri came into her own. She developed a knack for sketching and doodling. She enjoyed outings with her friends. She was an adoptive mother to the family’s dog, Bucky.

Terri attended Catholic School while growing up and remained close to her faith throughout her life.

In 1983, Terri met Michael Schiavo at Bucks County Community College and the two began dating. He was the first romantic interest Terri had.

The couple was engaged within a few months and married a year later at Terri’s church in Southampton, Pa. She was 21.

In 1986, Terri and Michael relocated to Pinellas County, Florida and her parents followed three months later.

In 1990, at the age of 26, Terri suffered a mysterious cardio-respiratory arrest for which no cause has ever been determined. She was diagnosed with hypoxic encephalopathy – neurological injury caused by lack of oxygen to the brain. Terri was placed on a ventilator, but was soon able to breathe on her own and maintain vital function. She remained in a severely compromised neurological state and was provided a PEG tube to ensure the safe delivery of nourishment and hydration.

On March 31, 2005, Terri Schindler Schiavo died of marked dehydration following more than 13 days without nutrition or hydration under the order of Circuit Court Judge, George W. Greer of the Pinellas-Pasco’s Sixth Judicial Court. Terri was 41.

Good stuff here on Terri's autopsy.

Someone once told me, "the problem with wrestling with a pig is that you both get covered in pig sh!t and THE PIG LIKES IT."

Which is actually just a cruder version of our Lord's advice to "Not cast pearls before swine."

For those like us who prefer facts, she was on the road to recovery when this pic was taken. At that time, she had over ten healing fractures, breaks showing to have occured at about the time of her mystery episode. Evaluation signed by W. Campbell Walker, M.D. as of 3/5/91, Radiology Department. Manatee Memorial Hospital.

Terri on the road to recovery before the second stage began.

For those like us who prefer facts,

Amazingly, they like to mention facts. I guess they think it is some kind of headline that will sell with no article below it.

Of course they use facts. It's easier to lie and distort facts than it is to create sympathy for a slimy adulterer like Michael Schiavo and his ghoulish attorneys.

If the Schindler's started thinking that Michael somehow caused these injuries, why did they live together for so many years? I don't think I would want to live someone who might have caused harm to my daughter.

Stealing Terri's medical money was good. The Schindler's, trying to raise money to save their daughter are bad.

I ran into one of the family there at the vigil, don't know the relationship, but sure recognized the behavior. Didn't like Christian symbols much. Later even embarrassed himself, after making a fool of himself ranting in front of decent folks. Even apologized and tiptoed out.

Which is batter--to live with someone who may have harmed your daughter, or to leave your daughter alone with such a person?

And let the truth be known, I bet you wouldn't want that someone to kill your daughter either.

And they never want to mention the money that Michael Schiavo is making on his book and they certainly won't discuss the more than million dollars he spent killing her even though by law every penny of it was supposed to pay for her rehabilitation.

You should really, REALLY, read something definitive. There is plenty out there. In these Terri threads you would find an abundance of compelling references, authors, bona fide experts, quotations, all you need if you really would like to know. All that background has been explained. It would make you sound more knowledgeable, too.

So are you saying that they lived with Michael to protect their daughter from further harm?

Blood tests indicating oxygenation problems would be expected in a person whose heart stopped. That does not indicate violence.

And what caused her hypokalemia? Physical struggle can cause blood potassium levels to drop, but there's no sensible reason Terri should have been involved in any such struggle prior to her collapse (unless, of course, someone bodily attacked her). Since the "bulemia" theory has also been shot out of the water, what other explanation can you offer for hypokalemia other than that Terri was bodily attacked by Michael Schiavo?

Nope. And they hate the Schindlers for raising money in the effort to save her. Strange behavior behind that keyboard.

Let us also remember what the courts did to this little fellow too.

Um, let me see if I've got this straight. A judge didn't let the father of Terri Schiavo, a married adult determine what was best for her, and that was an atrocity. A judge did let the father of Elian Gonzales, a small child, determine what was best for him, and that was an atrocity.

I have never met the Schindlers, and do not know their motives. I was merely observing that their continuing to live with Michael does not imply that they continued to trust him.

BTW, one thing which I have noticed in myself and others is that it is sometimes harder to notice something that is inconceivably horrible than something which is simply bad. If the horrible thing exceeds one's own perception of how bad things can be, seeing it can create sufficient cognitive dissonance to mask its existence.

Terri's parents certainly did trust Michael for quite awhile; I don't think the siblings really did. If the parents' trust had become jaded with unease, however, continuing to live with Terri and Michael would still have made sense.
