Theresa Marie Schindler was born to Robert and Mary Schindler on December 3, 1963. She was the first of three children the Schindlers would have.
Terri was a shy, but comical, child who had an affinity for music, animals and the arts. She kept a small circle of friends and was dear to schoolmates, neighboring families and her own extended family.
Following high school, Terri came into her own. She developed a knack for sketching and doodling. She enjoyed outings with her friends. She was an adoptive mother to the familys dog, Bucky.
Terri attended Catholic School while growing up and remained close to her faith throughout her life.
In 1983, Terri met Michael Schiavo at Bucks County Community College and the two began dating. He was the first romantic interest Terri had.
The couple was engaged within a few months and married a year later at Terris church in Southampton, Pa. She was 21.
In 1986, Terri and Michael relocated to Pinellas County, Florida and her parents followed three months later.
In 1990, at the age of 26, Terri suffered a mysterious cardio-respiratory arrest for which no cause has ever been determined. She was diagnosed with hypoxic encephalopathy neurological injury caused by lack of oxygen to the brain. Terri was placed on a ventilator, but was soon able to breathe on her own and maintain vital function. She remained in a severely compromised neurological state and was provided a PEG tube to ensure the safe delivery of nourishment and hydration.
On March 31, 2005, Terri Schindler Schiavo died of marked dehydration following more than 13 days without nutrition or hydration under the order of Circuit Court Judge, George W. Greer of the Pinellas-Pascos Sixth Judicial Court. Terri was 41.
Come on now. We all know that Terri woke up in the middle of the night and decided to drink FOUR GALLONS of ice tea and that's what caused her problem. The lesson we ALL need to learn from this is how incredible dangerous it is to keep FOUR GALLONS of ice tea in our refrigerators; for that matter, we should make ice tea a controlled substance.
Did they, now. In the next sentence, you yourself admit there was "no intensive investigation." One crummy hour on the scene hardly qualifies as an investigation at all. There was no forensic work done at the site, or anywhere. No follow-up on medical tests. No interviews with Terri's family and friends. No checking of Michael's statements.
On top of everything else, the original report was somehow destroyed, they say, and they recreated it, they say, but we have only one man's say-so, unsworn, that this was an "exact copy" of the original. The report is so compromised, it could not even be admitted into court. And so measly, it wouldn't be of any use anyway. In a word, this "investigation" and a couple of bucks will get you a cup of ghetto latte at Starbucks.
Such a case would not even exist a couple of decades ago. People just died when severely injured. But now that society has to pay the costs some will allow the injured to linger on indefinitely. And we complain about the high cost of medicine. But that is what you get when people cannot except death.
How do you think I got to be her judge? I didn't have anything to do with it. The only time I even posted to these threads was when the insanity exploded and almost destroyed this site. Then I started seeing the total paranoia and outright lies those supporting the Schindlers were spreading. They attacked anyone and everyone who did not buy into their delusionary view of what was happening.
Even now the True Believers cannot accept honest questions from one who is not a TB. Look at you speculating on how I "liked" her dying or am happy because of it. How disgusting can you get?
Nor can they accept the fact that decisions in the case were made by Law. Then they wanted the Law to be ignored and attacked all those following it claiming she didn't get a fair hearing although more hours were spent in legal proceedings than any non-criminal case I ever saw.
Terri could not be "returned" to her life even after years of trying because her higher brain was destroyed.
"There was a nearly lifeless body face down on the floor. That would be evidence of foul play, wouldn't you think?" Not by itself. It would not rule out foul play on its face but certainly is not by itself evidence.
Bloodwork is not going to show evidence of violence. Marks on the body, broken bones, unexplained cuts, bruises or contusions would. Apparently none of that existed. You really need to reason TO a conclusion not FROM one.
Even after extensive tests many cases cannot really be explained with a cause of death.
Do you TRY and miss the point when you don't like the implications? We were speaking of cases of death through UNKNOWN reasons not cases of domestic abuse (there is almost always PLENTY of evidence of abuse there) or auto accidents.
There was NO evidence that Michael ever abused Terri. Not in the blood not in the bones NONE. But grasping at straws seems to be a pasttime for those trying to convict him of killing her.
There is no evidence of any "huge brawl". How many "brawls" have you seen which did not include bodily damage, broken furniture, witnesses? ALL these are conveniently missing here but doesn't stop you from libeling Michael Schiavo while complaining about those "libeling" the Schindlers by exposing their financial scams.
There have been lots of nonsense here. False claims that there is some gigantic conspiracy to kill Terri is my favorite. Misinterpreted medical evidence is another commonplace. Rejection of the evidence of those most involved is standard for the True Believers. Accusations of murder without ANY facts typical. Wishing Michael guilty does not make it so.
If you want to stick to facts that would make things much easier to understand. But I have seen very few presented just accusations against everyone not willing to assume MS guilty without trial. I have NEVER seen any statement by people on your side which even came close to treating him fairly. Hysterical hatred is all I see.
Oh, please there was nothing landmark at all here. Whipping up outrage on flimsy pretext does nothing to the legal system. While the Schindlers were able to throw a monkey wrench in the legal system and their followers able to get some politicians to jump in like ignoramouses NOTHING significant was changed. People just like Terri still are allowed to meet their maker when there is nothing left to preserve just as they were before.
The only landmark is the ability to damage the GOP which this case did and make FR look like a lunatic asylum (also very damaging).
While I don't doubt you would try and put this story in the Bible I do doubt you will succeed. Your comparing it to Cain and Abel is just another example of how it causes you to lose rationality and perspective. It is nothing unusual (outside the Schindlers craziness).
The autopsy confirmed what the doctors familiar with the case claimed. Oh, but I forget that was all part of the gigantic conspiracy.
You think only the police had an interest in this? You really believe the insurance company would not have done all it could to prevent Michael from getting any money from it if there was ANY evidence he caused it? Come on now use your head.
More insults really help your case. Distortions of what I believe or said are commonplace from you True Believers. But honesty about this case is rare.
Only a fool would believe society was not paying the bills or that some anonymous group of true believers would. They are only good for accusations without proof and complaining about how the whole world wanted Terri dead.
And understanding that society has LIMITED resources becomes a bad thing to you. The real Terri was dead long before her poor body was allowed to follow. A brain stem and autonomous reflexes are not life.
The incredible fear of death revealing on these thread shocked me since most seem to be Christian. There was nothing Christian about keeping her in a state of limbo for years.
No the Schindlers did not act like parents who love their child. They acted like someone who could not let go. I have had to see the person I most loved in life be taken and would NEVER have prevented her release just because I could not accept it.
There is nothing "muddled" in my posts though I cannot speak for your comprehension of them.
You are not going to play that little game with me. I think you are in need of mental health help. What is a True Believer? Sounds like something out of a Dean Koontz novel. Society was not paying the bills and if it was, SO WHAT? Now that Dems are in control, SOCIETY as you put it, will be paying a lot more bills. I don't think this thread was meant to be a debate over whether Terri should die. As you well know, that has happened. So don't act insulted, if people wish to honor Terri, no big deal. Okay?
The autopsy confirmed no such thing! Unless you consider the autopsy correctly concluding that Terri died as the result of involuntary dehydration. But you keep right on pushing the Culture of Death's agenda.

I play no games with anyone on FR except perhaps some of the nuts unhappy because the South lost the Civil War.
So I am in need of mental health help because I refuse to accept your pretenses? While that could be true I certainly know where NOT to go for such help.
If you are unaware that society most definitely WAS paying Terri's bills then you don't know as much as you think.
Scams like this do not insult me in any case.
"Flawed" was the conclusion by the doctor who did NOT see the brain. Once again the people actually dealing with this are rejected in favor of those who confirm what you want confirmed.
That is exactly what I said would be the claim.
I have no problem with the outcome of the Civil War. I know it bothers someone when they are so transparent.
I believe I already mentioned the bills and I believe I said SO WHAT? Anyhoo, you never addressed all that I mentioned. A little selective omittance?
I have never ran a scam in my whole life. Raised 3 kids who are all doing well.
If you don't want to be insulted, quit being insulting. Now I believe your thoughts are muddled as the lady said above, that is a good thing because it gives you an excuse! Ciao!
Well, they did stop an investigation but if you want to think they didn't, that's your choice.
There were witnesses -- on both sides of the family. The fight was severe enough so that one of Terri's friends invited her to spend the night. Terri declined and told her friend she would pretend to be asleep when Michael got home. Had she accepted, she might be alive and well today, who knows? He didn't get home till much later, so she almost certainly was asleep by the time he got there. And she was still healthy.
But shortly after he got home, she suddenly ended up on the floor in cardiac arrest and all but dead. That doesn't "just happen."
