Washington has a way of quickly acculturating people, especially those who are most susceptible to derangement by the derivative dignity of office. But Jim Webb, Democratic U.S. senator-elect from Virginia, has become a pompous poseur and an abuser of the English language before actually becoming a senator.
Webb is beyond disgusting.
Shame on the folks who voted for him.
Webb obviously has a very high opinion of himself. Hope he gets knocked off that pedestal he has put himself on.
Come and defend your scumbag boy-hero.
Tell us again about how much respect he deserves.
Yep, the voters of Virginia voted out a truly good man. What in the world were they thinking?
A rather liberal colleague from U.Va. recently posted on his facebook account a note that read:
"Virginia Senator-elect Jim Webb is the rare Washington figure who doesn't suck up to power."
This accompanied a link to an op-ed piece: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15990689/site/newsweek/
Basically, Webb is a "hero" to the rabidly left-wing, anti-war folks inside the Beltway. Let him spew; some day he will say something that will make him look dumber than Allen during the "macaca" incident...and possibly even more so than Kerry's "botched joke."
Beats me, but I suspect VA is getting a lot of transplants from blue states.
Your suspicions are correct. There are many blue-staters settling here in Northern VA.
It was sad indeed to see Allen's campaign flounder. I'd like to see the broader media take note of the problem with Webb. When the President made a genuine and gentlemanly inquiry - Webb wants to punch him out[!] Incredible. His act is not going to last long in Washington, it would seem.
He's an arrogant, vile and very angry man. He should have never been elected to public office. I anticipate a lot of trouble from him.
"Damn Yankees" and "Yankees go home," come to mind. :)
An very well-written article. I encourage everyone to read it.
TownHall.com has it in full.
You are right. There is a reason that he was only Sec. of the Navy for something like six months, if that. Pres. Reagan was going to kick his butt out I understand. So, as usual, VA voted in a real whacko, good luck VA! Another arrogant, blustering Senator, man, we've got our fill of those b*****ds. Time to run them out--on a rail...
Webb has become so enamored of his Scots-Irish mythology, I think he believes it gives him license to be a loud, obnoxious boor, bellicose in personal encounters and pompous like a strutting rooster. He fancies himself an Andrew Jackson, but he's more like the mayor from Dukes of Hazzard.
...wait, with bated breath!!
"Whackos" like...I take it that you are referring to Jim Moran, who represents the super-liberal areas in Northern Virginia (Alexandria and Arlington), right?
Previously, I would have thought that Moran and Webb were both aberrations, except our own Senator Warner is starting to act kinda weird, so who knows.
He's related to Arlen?
I have been in the Army 30 yrs. (4 active duty, including a 2003 combat tour in A-stan. ) I am sick and tired of these clowns in the msm and the left that say "he is a decorated veteran so he knows what he is saying". BULLSHIT, being a veteran does not give you a lifetime pass on ignorance. IE: Murtha, Kerry, Wes Clark, Rangel etc.... ad naseum. I served , I was payed, no one owes me anything and I'm no expert on war either. no one is for that matter. Now the msm and the demrats are fawning all over Webb, proclaiming his war record etc. He is a dick , playing along with the faux adoration. Kiss my ass Webb, your probably just like most of the officers I know that either self decorated themselves or were given preferential treatment for awards. Murtha is another example, he was a reserve Marine Intelligence officer in vietnam. Intel officers are rear echelon staff pukes, how the hell did he get valor awards?? Fellow freepers, its fine to show your thanks for our service, but dont be fooled by the bullshit either.
