Senator Curt Thompson, curt@curtthompson.com
Georgia State Senator, District 5

Charles H. Kuck, Esq., ckuck@immigration.net
Weathersby, Howard, and Kuck, LLC

Dear Senator Thompson and Mr. Kuck:

I am writing to share my concern over a recent story in the Associated
Press that you are seeking to stop the legal deportation of the
Senator's wife, Sasha Herrera.

Notwithstanding the allegations of wrong filings by a notary public,
someone of Senator Thompson's standing and knowledge, even if not a
Senator at the time, should surely be expected to use judgement and
all necessary resources to ensure his wife-to-be is in the country
legally. Saying, "We thought we followed the law" is not an excuse.
Other citizens cannot use ignorance of the law in this way, even with
a good attorney. It is a poor example to regular citizens when those
in public service neglect their duties in this way.

Furthermore, Senator Thompson is a lawyer, and has stated on his Web
site that he speaks Spanish, French, and German. Surely these two
facts would leave a reasonable person to believe that he should be
able to follow the law and avoid problems in translating from Spanish
to English.

Out of respect to the public, and In the interest of the Senator, the
office he holds, and the laws he is sworn to obey and enforce, it is
imperative that you truthfully disclose to the public all facts in
this matter before this case goes before a judge or other deciding
body. We, the public, are often poorly served by media reports and
press releases from public officials. Until we have more information,
we cannot simply assume that Ms. Herrera is being treated as any
citizen would be. This is unfortunate, but the widespread corruption,
illegalities and untoward behavior of those in our high offices makes
it necessary.

To be frank, it seems that you are seeking a privilege for a Senator's
wife which any other citizen would not receive. If true, this would
be wrong. If the Department of Immigration is asking Ms. Herrera to
temporarily or permanently return to Colombia, then she should obey
these lawful authorities and work out her legal problems from there.

Anyone, whether well-off and powerful or disadvantaged, who acts as if
he is above the law, is foolishly mistaken. Since Senator Thompson
publicly states has served at the Lutheran church where he worships,
we must reasonably assume he professes faith in Jesus Christ and
follows His teachings. His word admonishes us to obey the law, and
this reason above others demands the Senator and his wife do just
that, in humility, taking full responsibility for their actions.

Again, I do not assume to know all the facts in this matter. (But God
does know the facts and sees into your hearts.) So in fairness to you
both, I am requesting a response with the full facts by this coming
Wednesday, December 6, 2006.

I appreciate your taking the time to listen to my concerns.

Respectfully,

"She demands immigration rights, but refuses to abide by American laws...what a bunch of lowlifes."

As does that woman who is being 'kept' by that church in Chicago. The whole dang country knows exactly where she is, so why is ICE having such a difficult time finding her? Or is someone much higher up allowing her to continue this charade in the interest of gaining sympathy for the pro-illegal agenda? Logic tells me it's the latter and will this be yet another attention grabber for the cause? "Georgia Lawmaker Must Hide His "Hardworking" "Immigrant" Wife from the Evil Immigration Enforcers",,,,i.e., pass amnesty asap!
