Ping to today's thread plus a little news...

Ahmadinejad says US is the problem in Iraq
(AP)

2 December 2006

DOHA — Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad accused the United States on Friday of stirring up divisions between Iraq’s Shias, Sunnis and Kurds, saying Washington is “the cause of the problem” in the war-torn country.

His comments came a day after US President George W. Bush met with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al Maliki, urging the Iraqi leader to crack down on Shia militias blamed in sectarian violence. Iran is believed to back some of the militias.

Ahmadinejad spoke in an interview with the Arab news network Al Jazeera during a visit to the Qatari capital Doha to attend the opening of the Asian Games.

In Doha, the Iranian leader held talks with Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh, from the militant Hamas movement, which is allied to Iran.

Ahmadinejad repeated Iran’s calls for the United States to pull its troops out of Iraq.

Iraqis “know how to govern themselves and provide their own security. You are the reason of the problem,” he told Al Jazeera, looking at the camera and addressing the United States and Britain. “Get out of Iraq and leave the Iraqi people alone.”

Stick a sock in it, Mahmoud, or we're going to be the "problem" in Iran, too.

OK, when the clock hits 1:30, everybody get up, turn your desks around facing to the back of the classroom and sit back down again as if nothing happened.

True story (I'm a retired high school teacher) - one day at the beginning of class, everyone, everyone was standing up and horsing around. They weren't paying one bit of attention to my plea for order. Finally, I said in a loud voice, "Sit down!" They dropped in their spot and sat on the floor in unison.

It was hysterical!

It was staged. The rascals.

LOL! That's a good one.

We really did the synchronized turn the desks around thing to a substitute teacher when I was in high school. We caught hell for it from our regular teacher when he got back, but it was worth it.

Teachers have my admiration. You certainly have more patience than I do.

Wayyyyyy OT, but very interesting (at least to me).

For those who like art and/or poetry, check out this web site:
Akiane, child artist

Be sure to click on the thumbnail pictures, and be sure to read the comments and/or poetry Akiane wrote for each of them. She's only 12, NOW, and has been painting incredible paintings for years.

I suppose a genius could show up once every few hundred years with her artistic talent at such a young age. But the comments and poetry she writes are "impossible" for someone so young to write and understand. And yet she has. She's for real.

My wife and I have an opportunity to actually meet her next week! She's considered the world's only living binary child genius ("binary" meaning she is considered genius level in both her painting and her poetry).

Like I said, WAYYYY off topic. Now back to the serious stuff this thread is famous for...

I just heard a report from Israel that the Abbas deal for a "unity government" with Hamas has fallen through!!

Surprise??? Heck no!!

Marc Ginsberg was on with Brian Wilson and another guy and he wants a full time envoy in Israel, going all over that region trying to "help"...

The other guy (I forget his name, sorry)..said that Pres. Bush was just IN Jordan, so was Condi, and Cheney was in Saudi Arabia...it is IRAN that is causing the trouble, per this guy.
