President Says He Believes Muslims and Christians Pray to Same God

"I think we do. We have different routes of getting to the Almighty," Bush said. "But I want you to understand, I want your listeners to understand, I don't get to get decide who goes to heaven. The Almighty God decides who goes to heaven and I am on my personal walk," he said.

"I don't think this is a religious war. I think this is a war between evil people that are willing to kill on a mass scale; people that would like to end up with weapons of mass destruction, even kill more than they did in New York City and Washington, D.C."

In this point I think that President Bush is wrong. God is the triune God. Allah is not. Case closed.

If there really is only one God, makes sense to me.

Yeah, God told the Christians to follow Jesus and He told the Muslims to kill the Christians.

I don't know how Christians get fooled into saying or thinking things like this. Jesus Christ declared Himself "the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."

This question is much like the one George Lucas asked, "If there is only one God, why are there so many religions?" And I think the answer is that there is only one true God, but many false gods. If you pray to a false god, the true God (being omniscient) will know your prayer, but that doesn't mean you prayed it to Him.

Even if we put aside our personal beliefs such as there being only one way to the Father, I still have a very big problem with God wanting people to be killed or enslaved.

I am of the opinion that if your God is telling you to kill, enslave, take multiple wives and please blow your children up, THAT'S NOT GOD talking.

Don't really care here what Mr. Bush thinks about God or Islam. Really tired of hearing religious references in our President's comments. Mr.Bush, you were elected President of a secular government. Your job is to serve the United States of America. It is not to pander to one religious group or another! From your position as President, religion should play no part in your service to national public policy. Period.

I think there are many religions, because I believe religions are created by man.

How would one know that when they pray, they are praying to God? If God hears, then surely God knows if that person is sincere, doesn't He? Besides, doesn't God know before it even happens, that someone will pray to Him?

It appears that President Bush was being about as neutral as possible about his faith and he did not try to place Christianity above Islam or go on about religion.

The interviewer from ABC was asking all the questions about religion, Bush simply answered. If he were to deny having faith he would be lying.

Doesn't God know before a person is born, what that person is going to do? If so, why does God create that person?

Those are deep philosophical questions. We could go on and on about things like that. My personal belief is that God does not know what you or I are going to do, that is the basis of free will. I also don't believe that God micromanages things down here. I believe that we are created to do as we will, and God hopes that we will do His will. He hopes we will not get in a bad accident or get cancer but stuff happens. Could God make a person have an accident or get sick if He had a reason to do so? Yes. But mostly I think He watches and may occasionally think that perhaps He should have taken more time in the prototype lab.
