Investors fled SCO Groups stock on Friday, voting with their feet after a federal judge gutted its lawsuit against IBM.
In mid-morning trading, SCO Group (nasdaq: SCOX - news - people ) traded at $1.36, down 64 cents, or 32%.
[snip]
On Thursday, the judge said SCO Group had provided no evidence to support its claim that IBM (nyse: IBM - news - people ) took code from Unix, which SCO claims to have some copyrights, and added it to Linux.

Almost ready to sing....
(in my Sean Connery voice) "One ping, please..."
My heart is broken. Where are the usual suspects to say SCO was robbed?
IBTFIBGE!
(In before the first IBGE)
Schadenfreude!
You guys are a bunch of communists!!! Free software is evil!!! Any idea is only worthwhile if it is sold! Your free software is aiding China! Ever notice the first word in Red Hat is "red"? Bottom line, another American Unix company pays the piper for involving themselves with Linux and open source. Planned Parenthood is shown as a Linux site... Yes we know like all liberals you'd prefer to fatten the government instead, and let them provide everything instead of industry, but at least get the terms right. Ever heard of Joe Trippi? The only thing we know for sure, is the RNC runs Windows, and the DNC runs Linux.
*snicker*
Oh, and IB4GE.
That's cold man, you channel others often?
Any time a "software company" shifts all its resources from development to litigation, that should be a sign.
LOL!
Smart money abandoned the ship when it realized that Santa Cruz Operation is stuck in the sands of Utah desert!
Oddly enough ... that's actually true. :-0
Bush2000, MIA since 2/19/2006.
Santa Cruz Operation is stuck in the sands of Utah desert! The "SCO" that sued IBM is not the Santa Cruz Operation. It is the former Caldera Corp., a one-time Utah-based linux supplier. The Santa Cruz Operation sold the old "SCO Unix" business and the SCO moniker to these guys, then changed their own name to Tarantella. Sun Microsystems subsequently bought Tarantella for $25 million. No one would take SCO if you paid them $25 million. |
Well, I new SCO would lose this one.
