Sore Winners -- Democrats try to steal an election in Florida
The Wall Street Journal ^ | December 1, 2006

Posted on 12/01/2006 12:46:27 AM PST by Zakeet

Democrats whomped Republicans in last month's midterms, but oddly enough they're still calling in the legal cavalry to contest one of the few races they narrowly lost.

That would be Florida's 13th Congressional District, which runs along the Gulf Coast from just south of Tampa to just north of Fort Myers. The certified winner is Republican Vern Buchanan, who beat Democrat Christine Jennings by fewer than 400 votes out of more than 237,000 cast. Two recounts, which were demanded by Democrats and required by law, have reconfirmed Mr. Buchanan's victory and slightly increased the margin.

Unbowed, the Dems are now suggesting that defective voting machines cost them the race. They point to Sarasota County's 18,000 "undervotes," or incidences where voters cast ballots in other races but not the Buchanan-Jennings contest. Ms. Jennings--along with such liberal partisans as People for the American Way and the American Civil Liberties Union--has filed a lawsuit contesting the results based on "statistical and eyewitness evidence of significant machine malfunctions" in Sarasota's iVotronic touch-screen system.

They want a court to declare Ms. Jennings the winner by--get this--using statistical models to extrapolate that she would have received most of the undervotes. Short of that, they'll settle for nullifying the November results and holding a new election.

And it worked for well for Christine Fraudoire up there in the state of Washington....

Democrats are truly the party of cry babies. Every one of their constituencies claims VICTIM STATUS when they lose, are insulted, are denied taxpayer-paid benefits, or when they are looked at by someone they dislike.

That is one reason I'm glad I left that stinking party.

Including county, state and individual media recounts of votes in Palm Beach, all 7 confirmed that Bush won in the 2000 election, yet, not one DemonRat, and most of MSM even today, admits that Gore LOST! After 4 years, $10's of millions, exhaustive digging by the Human Rights Commission (headed by a partisan Domocrat woman minority person), not one (1) person, repeat .... not one! ... could be found who was denied (disenfranchised) the right to vote. The ONLY people who the Democrats tried to 'disenfranchise' ... were members of our military. These people are truely dispicable!

Now I've heard everything. They'll go to any length to get the result they want. Sickening.

This is the "Amazing Kreskin" recount method. They tried this in 2000. Using this "method" the rat said anyone who had voted rat on every other line but presidential, must have wanted to vote for algore so therefore any of these ballots go to algore and that gets him a final lead of 87 votes statewide. This non sense was so ridiculous even the ratmedia could get behind it and it went nowhere as this new effort will.

And Republicans. despite the long history of inevitable legal whining by the Democrats when they lose an election, continue in the very polite, Main Street Republican position of remaining bent over with ankles grabbed. Instead of aggressiovely making Dems waste their capital defending a narrow win, we just remain nice guys and gals, concede and walk away. That's not the way to fight a war.

If this challenge can get as far as the FL Supreme Court, then I'd put my money on the Democrat.

IIRC, din't they "find" some boxes of uncounted paper ballots a week or so after the election?

This is why we should worry about the census in 2010

If they allow for sampling rather than enumeration they will "sample" blue counties more.

"Democrats are truly the party of cry babies. "

I politely disagree with you. The issue is far deeper than "Democrats are crybabies," which implies they are juveniles who never really grew up.

Leftists don't really believe in fair play. They have no compunctions about stealing elections if they can succeed without getting caught. So they make up the useless stories like Gore in Florida in 2000 and this HR election in 2006.

The reason is that once they abandon Western values (freedom, truth, belief in God) then all that matters is power and their politics.

This is what distinguished Marxism and Naziism. Get power any way you can to promote your agenda. Doesn't matter if it is obtained fairly or not. Don't forget that Hitler became Chancellor of Germany via election, and rose in politics via a type of democratic process, but don't let that fact fool you that he believed in the sanctity of the ballot.

I find another example of this extremely compelling. This is the situation in Mexico for which the leftist candidate (Obrador) lost. But the leftists want power so badly that they "swore" Obrador in anyway in front of millions, before the swearing in of the winning candidate. Was it just a poignant gesture? No. They are hoping to foment a rebellion in the country that would PREVENT the swearing in of the winner. Then, possibly, after winning over the media, Obrador might be pronounced "winner" by polls and proclamation; then in the interests of peaceful power transition, Calderon would concede to Obrador.

As proof, here's the news reports;

"Obrador has declared himself Mexico's "legitimate" president, and set up a parallel government designed to undermine Calderon."

"Leftist lawmakers have refused to leave the section of the congressional platform that they occupy, and ruling party lawmakers are holding firm to the part they have been able to secure. The standoff will likely continue into Friday. "We're never going to recognize Felipe Calderon as president," said Democratic Revolution Rep. Raymundo Cardenas. "If he isn't sworn in ... he isn't president.""

This notion of Democrats not gracefully conceding even close elections is very worrisome.

If the results were reversed, with all the close races that had gone to Dems going to Reps, we'd still be in the courts. Funny how the MSM has been 100% silent about that.
