Would Jesus care if a poor working man was "illegal" or not?

Would Jesus even use the word, "illegal" when describing a human being?

Just a question from the sidelines.

Okayyy. How about this...

How many poor working men who ran accross our border in the millions with out regard to other's property, jumped ahead of line of millions of other poor working men and then committed crimes then were captured and then wound up in jails would Jesus allow to come out and commit more crimes like theft, assault, rape, and murder?

Is that better?

Wait, here we go:

How many poor working men who cheated and jumped ahead of the line of other poor working men who followed the rules and obeyed our laws and then ran accross our borders would Jesus force the law abiding poor working men to give drivers licenses to?

Ah, maybe this will work:

Would Jesus let half of the hospitals in our state go broke because poor working men cheated other poor working men and jumped ahead of the line by not obeying the same rules that the poor working men here legally had obeyed their whole lives?

Does that work better for you?

Whoa mama, did you miss the point of this column! Why don't you go back and read the stuff I wrote in the last few paragraphs about people using the Almighty to stifle debate, OK?

There is the case in the book of Philemon I believe... a slave who is a Christian runs away from his master. In this case Paul (who is the one who wrote the Epistle of Philemon) returns the slave to his master, but at the same time urges compassion and kindness. My take would be that the law needs to be followed, and the illegals returned to their country of origin, but without harsh treatment along the way.

Just a question from the sidelines.

I don't know about Jesus, but the Old Testament book of Leviticus, 19:33-35, gives this law to God's Chosen people:

'When an alien lives with you in your land, do not mistreat him. The alien living with you must be treated as one of your native-born. Love him as yourself, for you were aliens in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.
It does not specify if it applies to legal or illegal aliens, it just uses the general term aliens.

Not that I think illegal immigration in the US today should be ignored. I am ll for strengthening and enforcing immigration control. I'm just saying...
